Food: Generous portions

Appetizer: Grilled Prawns and Scallops in a “secret” sauce: Delicious, tender and buttery

Pesto Halibut w/ Risotto (special): very succulent and lemony! Risotto was cooked to perfection!

Short Rib Ravioli (not pictured): I didn’t have it but the review was…” it was bomb as hell”.

Dessert: Limoncello Gelato: so delicious

Service: Cheerful, Efficient, and Polite

Ambiance: intimate and cozy

Highly recommend coming here! Not an ideal spot for large groups, however, great for a table for 2-4. There is a 2 hour time slot till the next reservations come in.

Montalcino is a great restaurant. We randomly ended up here while staying in the area. We were looking for a good Italian restaurant but had never been here before. It turned out to be a surprisingly wonderful meal. I had a Lobster Saffron Pasta and my wife had Short Rib Ravioli. They both were very delicious.

Aside from the food, the restaurant was cozy and therefore relatively quiet during the time we went, which was a Saturday evening after New Year’s Day. It had a wonderful ambiance. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Throughout the evening we saw the wait staff talking to each table and laughing as if they were at home. The woman who filled our drinks stopped by regularly to check on us and make a nice comment which made us feel comfortable. Our waiter was also warm, funny, and gave good recommendations.

This restaurant left an impression on me because I am accustomed to highly rated Italian restaurants being mediocre. My wife and I have been to Naples, Italy twice in the last 14 months and we felt that Montalcino rivaled those in terms of quality, service, and ambiance.

Highly recommended.

My only regret was not coming here sooner. The owners are incredibly welcoming and kind. You feel like you’re in their actual home. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection and the restaurant itself has this welcoming warm atmosphere. By far the best dining experience in Issaquah and honestly maybe ever. My husband and I travel a lot and our favorite thing is to eat and drink but this place by far surpassed our expectation for friendliness, food taste and atmosphere.

Lovely Italian fine dining in downtown Issaquah! Such a treat to have such lovingly prepared meals so close to home.
Good options for vegetarians and pescatarians both.

Nice cozy dine in for families and small groups. Authentic Italian served with warmth. Vegetarian options are limited , but if quality . Desserts are amazing , my favorite being the chocolate Bomba. Food is a bit pricier , but we end up returning year after year for birthdays and anniversaries.

Our kids said this was their favorite restaurant. We understand why. Service extraordinaire. The owner comes and gives recommendations. The food – for all of us – was delicious. There aren’t a ton of tables, so you probably need reservations, but if you’re in the area this is worth the time.

From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were visiting old friends in Italy rather than dining out. The owners were beyond welcoming—genuinely kind, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare these days to find a place where you feel so at home the second you sit down.

The food? Absolutely fantastic. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. The appetizers set the tone for the night—bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh, quality ingredients. Every bite felt like it had been made with love.

It’s the kind of restaurant where you linger a little longer, not just because the food is excellent, but because the people make you feel like you belong there. A true gem—this will be our go-to spot for a long time to come.

So excellent. The wait staff was super pleasant. The restaurant atmosphere was cozy with neighbors while making space for individual romance.

The main course food — ravioli, spaghetti, lobster tail, chicken breast — amazing.

The sauces — I don’t have the words to properly describe how satisfying were their tastes.

Dessert — cannoli and gelato. So good.

100% would return. Go here if you enjoy truly excellent Italian food.

Intimate setting for hearty Italian fare.
Entrees are big portions desserts decently sized.
Food is definitely on the rich/heavy side but good flavors.
Nice spot for a celebration, three birthdays last time i was there.
Fairly spendy.
