Dong Nai is the spot! A hidden gem in Austin, serving delicious and authentic Vietnamese food.
I discovered this establishment on New Year’s Day, when my usual go-to Vietnamese restaurants were closed. And I’m so glad they were, leading me to this spot!
The interior design of this restaurant has a “Mom and Pop” feel to it, and the food is absolutely amazing. I ordered the “Beef Rib” Pho (Absolutely amazing and highly recommend) and Pork Fried Egg Rolls. Both were authentic and absolutely mouth-watering delicious! This is the high quality caliber of Vietnamese food I am accustomed to growing up in Southern California.
Absolutely recommend this place to all my Pho Lovers. Friendly and timely service. This place needs to be rated much higher than it is!

Ate at Dong Nai in Austin about an hour before closing, and there were still plenty of guests dining in. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. There’s a great variety of dishes to choose from, and everything tasted fresh and home-style, which I love. The wings were so good omg. The salt and pepper calamari also 10/10. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their dishes!!

If I could give Dong Nai 10 stars, I would. It has the most delicious food. The most accommodating staff and the ambience is incredible. The portions are out of this world, the love in the food is abundant— eat here, just do it.

Dong Nai deserves better rating! Best pho i have ever had, the aroma of the broth is 10/10 and the grilled pork banh mi is so flavorful, it’s like a party in my mouth! Service is good, food come out fast, I came back many times and definitely recommend this place

I’m not a sandwich person, but have to admit that Dong Nai’s shrimp Bahn Mi was outstanding. The bread was crispy and hot. It was sweet and fresh, filled with a whole bunch of crispy shrimp. It was as long as my forearm, and large enough for two. We shared the crispy pepper calamari, egg-drop soup, and the shrimp vermicelli. All these were decent. The wide array of $6 glasses of wine can’t be beat. The staff were very attentive and nice. This restaurant was nothing fancy but definitely worth another visit in the near future…

My friend and I originally wanted to go to a different restaurant today, but they were closed so I found this place on google. Let me tell you we were not disappointed at all! The portions were massive (neither of us finished our food), the Thai tea wasn’t overly sweet which I loved, the food was delicious, and the staff was quick and attentive! We got 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 Thai teas for around $60 total! We will definitely be back!

I wanted to like this place bc I heard it was affordable on Reddit. Unfortunately when I got there the bahn mi prices had been raised by almost 30% even though the menu pic with prices had been uploaded only 7 months ago I guess that’s the price for quality. I wouldn’t have minded if the waitress hadn’t laughed at us for having questions about the menu, and then another server came up to tell me i was the first female he had seen who finished the 15(?) inch bahn mi . I feel like that means I should have got it for free? It was very good tho. Will probably go back and try to save room for the mango sticky rice. Sorry for being a fat American

Me and my bf try out the pho called (PHO DONG NAI) yes that’s what is named after the restaurant, let me tell you, it was sooo yummy and very flavorful, they added egg in it, that’s was fun surprise. The broth’s depth of flavor was an overwhelming cornucopia, boggled the mind and baffled the senses, the umami!

My new favorite place for pho!!! Ample portions with cozy booths and tables. Wi-Fi available and informative cooking shows in the background about their Vietnamese food. It’s a nice quiet place if you’re needing to eat and do a bit of remote work.

recently visited Dong Nai Restaurant, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing overall.
When we arrived, there was a long wait even though many tables were available. The issue seemed to be that tables were not properly cleaned after customers left. After finally being seated, it took about 10–15 minutes before anyone came to serve our table.
The service was very poor throughout the visit. Our appetizer arrived cold even though it was supposed to be steamed, and the chicken bao barely had any filling — just one small piece of chicken that you could hardly taste. We also ordered hot tea that never arrived, and our server never checked back to see if we received it.
The pho was honestly the best part of the meal. The beef pho was excellent and full of flavor. However, when we ordered egg soup and orange chicken to go, the server forgot to place that order as well.
Overall, if you’re coming only for good pho, this place may work for you. But the service needs major improvement. There were no napkins on the table and we had to ask multiple times to get some. The sauce bottles were also very dirty, which did not feel sanitary or safe to use.
