Bangkok Hung is a little gem in Southfield, worth for recommendations.
With the bird cage hanging lamps, the interior is fairly Thai, like it !
Ordered their Pad Thai, when it was served, I saw beef cooked in Pad Thai sauce on top of pre-cooked noodles, was a bit wondering when I have my first bite, but you know what, it tasted pretty good, though without the heat of stir fried, but it has its own unique taste in the good way.

So first of all the food came out fast, I appreciate that I DoorDash also so I stopped here for lunch and I didn’t have long.

The staff are very polite, friendly, and quick.
Looking to try something different I ordered the Pad Khing.
While waiting, I used the restroom. Paper towel dispenser out of order. It got my thinking. When I returned to the dining area I noticed several other things. Tape on the edges of tables. Worn seating surfaces. Miscellaneous little things that added up, a definite need repair or replace that conveyed a sense of the place being run down.
The food was fine.
The hot & sour soup came with but it was only half full.
I ordered the Pad Khing with scallops (a favorite that I haven’t seen anywhere else in the area) but was disappointed at how few there were. I don’t mind the smaller sized ones, but there should have been more than 4-5 in the entire dish. And there was a very strong floral note to the dish.
I got the sense that they are cutting corners in a lot of areas. Don’t know why but it was not reassuring. I doubt I’ll stop in again.

I used to come to Bangkok Hung Café back in the early 2000s when I worked at Verizon, and I remember the Thai food being absolutely delicious back then. Fast forward to today—my current company (which I’ve been with for over 20 years) recently moved to 12 & Northwestern, and I was surprised and excited to see this place was still around, just down the street.
I stopped in for lunch, and I have to say, the staff was incredibly friendly and upbeat—really welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to my memories. I ordered the Pad Thai and found it pretty bland and lacking flavor. The portion size was also on the smaller side, and they were a bit stingy with the chicken and noodles.
It was a bit of a letdown given how much I used to enjoy it. I really wanted to love it again, but the food just didn’t hit the mark this time.

The food was AMAZING! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I got the sweet and sour red snapper and my friend got the red snapper with curry sauce. We both enjoyed our food. Crab Rangoon was also delicious. I’ll definitely be returning

This place is definitely my top 5 for the Metro Detroit area.. Top 5 Top 5 Top 5!! I used to work in Bingham Farms and the entire office would order carryout from here. I go with the Pad-Thai with chicken and shrimp, EVERY TIME!! I also order it at the spiciest level they have which is pretty hot, I’ve never had anyone ever able to stand a bite of my food (& I like it that way) lol. I’ve also had their veggie meal which is pretty good as well. Everyone I’ve introduced to this place agrees that there is no better Thai food around. On top of that its super light considering its a large quantity of food. I usually dine out but the times I’ve dinned in have been great considering the soup that comes with your meal.

I ordered from Bangkok Hung Cafe in Southfield and noticed a price discrepancy — the dish I selected was listed at $10.95, but I was charged $16.95. When I called, I was told their prices increased in October. I understand that prices can change, but the menu I ordered from still showed the old price.
I would just recommend updating the prices online to avoid confusion and surprise charges. The food was good, but transparency matters too.

Very disappointed in the service I just recently received from this location. There was a long piece of hair in my food. At first it seems that they didn’t believe me and when I ask for them to re make it and add extra chicken the lady(maybe it was the manager) came to the table with an attitude and told me no. Customer service is important and I have been coming to this place for over 10 years and the one time in a while I choose to sit down I had this horrible experience. Guess I will have to find me another Thai place. Oh and PS the food is not as good anymore either.

Had not been there in 20 years, so went back in July 2025 based on good memories of tasty food. Went in the evening at 7pm, to note that they serve nothing vegetarian (as explained by the waitress), though their note on the internet says they do. Disappointed- will take this restaurant permanently off my list.
