Outstanding happy hour! The street tacos are to die for, larger than expected, and not expensive. Their salsa is also really good, although the chips can be a little oily. Great little patio too. Definitely going back for HH!

My family lives just up the street so we have been coming to this shopping center and this specific restaurant location for many years even when it was another Mexican restaurant with different ownership and a different name. It’s just as good now as it was in the past and can honestly say Cochina Del Rancho is worth visiting no matter where in San Diego you are from. They take reservations or you can do walk-in and inside is very large with many different seating options as well as a room in the back for private parties. They also have a large bar with tons of drink options and a huge menu filled with all sorts of great dishes. Being that it’s in a shopping center and a quiet part of Rancho Santa Fe there is plenty of parking spaces so finding a spot will never be an issue. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out quickly.
For this visit, I started with the Queso Fundido and really enjoyed it although the portion size is very large. It’s more than enough for a party of four so if you are solo, I would not recommend ordering it unless you are very hungry. For my entrée, I chose the Chicken Mole Enchiladas, and really enjoyed them. The mole had some great flavor and the chicken was cooked just like I like it. Overall, a great Mexican restaurant in a beautiful part of San Diego and I would highly recommend anyone.

So disappointing….I’ve been taking friends to Cocina for years,
But no longer. Service was poor, never was asked for another drink, more salsa, dessert. Had to go to bar to ask for our check….. our simple 2 tostada plates were too salty, and did not come w beans & rice as stated on menu. And, this was on a Wednesday nite 2/4, place was not full. Good luck

I Didn’t realize the restaurant was in Rancho Santa Fe until someone invited us. The Carne Asada plate we ordered was really good. So was the carne asada tacos. The beans seemed like canned beans and the chips were greasy and too thick for us. The spanish rice was dry and not to tasty. The Mini carne asada tacos were also good. Good atmosphere inside.

I don’t know why the is restaurant doesn’t have better ratings. We got burritos, tacos, and a pitcher of spicy margaritas. All 10/10. Our waitress was great. Best lunch we have had in awhile

Poor service, server was cold and didn’t make us feel welcome. We had four of us very hungry and we were given two small baskets of chips which we polished off quickly. We asked for another basket and server informed we would have to pay extra for that, we declined. Fish tacos were very dark brown and tasted almost burnt. We were disappointed this time around, especially with the service. Chicken fajitas were good, but chicken was in larger size so definitely needed a fork and knife to cut it smaller.

Excellent food, must try their “hot” salsas they are actually more flavorful than the standard. The chips were a little stale.
12-20-2024 Another visit, and another excellent experience. Avoiding all of the other restaurant areas which are overrun with shoppers this was a welcome break.

Please note recent reviews. We liked this place last year, big mistake to go back. Quality of food has come down by a lot. Horrible fish tacos and burned salty Carne asada fajita. We also had a groupon and they are pushing lots of ways so you spend more w 18% tip for bad food and service. The refried beans was the worst ever, look how bright color and fatty it is. If you have a Groupon, cancel. There r so many options for Mexican food amd sadly this is not one anymore.

Ordered take out and they got it completely wrong ! No chicken in my “chicken enchiladas”…… To make matters worse, the cheese in my “chicken enchiladas” wasn’t melted. They also forgot to include guacamole. They definitely need to try harder.

The food was okay. Shrimp tasted like it sat out too long and had a lingering seafood taste. The grilled chicken was a little over done. The Carne Asada was Fantastic. The margaritas we’re also spectacular. We had a couple of the Clasa Azul margaritas and those were the best margaritas I’ve ever had! The chips and Salsa were subpar.
