This is my first 1 star review ever, but this restaurant deserves only 1 star. My wife and I went here last week for lunch. The place looked nice and we were excited for a good lunch. There were only three other tables with people at them. After several minutes the waitress came over and took our order. We ordered the crispy calamari as a starter and two entrees. The server said the calamari would be out in ten minutes with the entrees to follow. Long story short- with no food ever, being totally ignored by the wait staff and asking the hostess twice to please check on our food- we left after having waited for over an hour with ever seeing our server again or our food. And please note- there were only three tables with people eating. Please avoid this restaurant if you actually want to eat.

When we walked in, the place looked awesome; very nice and airy feel to it. We were just looking to have a nice, relaxing dinner but we got the exact opposite. We were greeted by the manager (?), who seemed exhausted and irritated and she showed us to the table. One of the kitchen helpers dropped bread off right after we sat but we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come and greet us, asking us for appetizers. The calamari we got was awesome and came in an orderly fashion but that’s when things went from bad to worse. We waited close to 45 minutes for our entrees to come out after the calamari was cleared from the table. I never got the salad that was supposed to come with my entree. There were only 2 servers plus the manager who originally sat us who were trying to wait on all tables. The restaurant was pretty packed aside from the “bar” area. The one server told the manager that she hopes the place crashes and burns as she was walking past our table, just a few minutes after calling the same manager “pathetic”. You can hear the cooks and servers screaming at each other in the kitchen, it was just chaotic. All around, very very unprofessional atmosphere and they need all the help they can get.

My Surprise party last Sat was amazing!! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff friendly and accommodating!
Our party wasn’t rushed and we had a nice space in the restaurant.

My husband and I absolutely loved this place. Amazing food! I had the Asian Scallops special served over garlic arugala with a with a caramelized sauce and basmati rice which was out of this world! My husband had the grilled swordfish on menu which he said was AMAZING! Homemade Pasta Fragoli soup OUTSTANDING! FANTASTIC BYOB. Owners Chef Lou and Cathy are very hospitable. Our waitress, Susan was very nice and accommodating. Can’t wait to go back.

I remember eating at Dave and Evelyns with my grandmother and father 60 yrs ago. it was the best seafood. I was 9 and I loved it there. it’s nice to see it is still there but with a different name. Still rated 5 stars. My brother
called to wish me a Merry Christmas and said do you remember the clam chowder in Belmar? Good to have fond memories.

We were there today for a celebration brunch, party of 11.
Pros: It was not crowded.
The dining area was clean and welcoming.
Cons:
-The coffee maker only makes 1 cup at a time. I don’t understand that. It took 20 minutes for 4 people to get coffee. At 11:15 on a Sunday morning.
-The fruit plates, though generous enough, were made up of either overripe or underripe melons and pineapples. And cut poorly.
-Food was served 2 plates at a time, with a good many minutes in between servings.
-My nephew, who of course has the shortest patience of everyone present, bless his heart, didn’t receive his food for a full 1/2 hour after the first person was served.
-I had shrimp and crab omelette. While I will say that the seafood inside was VERY fresh, (and the crabmeat wasn’t fake), it wasn’t very Omelettey. Kind of like too-puffy-eggs thrown around some seafood.
-Noone’s toast was buttered. I dont’ know if that’s a new thing, but there was also no butter on the table. Or ketchup for that matter. We had to ask for everything, and it took forever. And the ketchup came in little packets. For a higher end restaurant, I would have expected there to be a bottle (or bowl) of ketchup, and individual pats (not individually wrapped packets) of butter.
-There wasn’t enough room on the tables (plates were way too big).
-The entire meal took 2 hours, and it wasn’t because of the conversation.
-The staff didn’t look unified or put together.
I know this seems harsh. But I’m not an overly critical person, so for me to have all these negative things to say means a lot.
Did not enough people come in to work today? Was this the first time they were open for a brunch? I don’t know. This place had great potential, but fell wayyyy short.
