Cup of Joe is such a staple to Main Street. Having gone for years it’s great to see a local spot thrive with quality products from their fresh baked goods, kind owner and staff.
Seating can be tough but grab a sign if you’ve got extra space at the table for others to join. It’s truly a gem of a place!

Cute little stop. This place is unique, cute atmosphere and a good view of the street. It’s Quiet enough to study here and to have a nice conversation. They have lots of choices but a few things like sizes are a little odd. Which is normal for a smaller coffee shop. Our coffees were great and came out drinking temp.

Just walked in the door maybe 20 minutes ago. I ordered the bacon and cheddar quiche, and a honey oat milk latte. Both of the items were so classic and simple, and amazing. The quiche reminded me of something I’d eat at my aunt Emmy’s house (amazing cook), and the latte was literally perfect (honey oat milk). The perfect temperature, just the right amount of honey (which also tastes like a local high quality honey), and the espresso is smooth. I was having a rough morning, and as soon as I took the first sip of the latte, everything got better. I rode my motorcycle up from Cedar Rapids to work and get some wind therapy, and now I have to bring my wife back. Wonderful place, wonderful people. I’ll be here for another couple hours eating and drinking along the way, so I’ll post an update later!

Perfect atmosphere to get some work done. Coffee was by far the best one I’ve had in a long time.

Update 4/16/25: having a study sesh for an electrical exam decided to have a black cup of light. They have decaf light or dark roast as drip coffee options. The light is on point, nothing added.
Dropped in quality, I’ve lived here long enough, and have been even longer aficionado of cappuccinos, to know I used to have a better cappuccino in sidecar than what I had today.
Hard to tell though, was it;
1. The person who made it for me?
2. The espresso machine?
3 poor training (No training!!!) ?
Idk but not happy in giving them 3 stars for average. A little too hot too, THAT can very much be controlled and dialed in.
Update: 3/9/23
Oh my gosh night and day improvement on the cappuccino I mean it. It’s so lovely!!! Refer to my short video. Oh my gosh, you can’t do audio on Google reviews? All right here’s my wall text besides the obvious the latte art was on point I had already drank a sip of it so you know I kind a messed up with it but beyond that the micro foam on the steamed milk! awesome! the taste of the espresso with the milk? great!! two thumbs up!
THAT. Is worth going back to more often!

Always loved getting coffee at the location in mercy one at Waterloo but today I had a bad experience my cashier did not speak to me no hello or anything but proceeded to say hello to the two customers who were behind me that were white and me being black I get treated like I’m invisible. I will no longer support this business I’ll go scooters instead!!!

I had the cinnamon roll iced latte. I arrived 2 minutes before opening and they started my drink right away which I was ecstatic about because I was in a rush. The only thing is that this is unaffordable for me to go every day but it’s understandable because their quality is up there with Starbucks but I’d rather come here any day. Great drink great service I wasn’t really sure about the atmosphere because I was in the Drive-Thru but I’m sure it would have been just as amazing will definitely be coming in when I can afford it again LOL thank you guys.

Excellent service, coffee, and food. One of the many surprises for my work trip from AZ. I also bought the Kick-start espresso whole bean to enjoy at home and it was delicious. Tons of Crema!

Whenever I’m visiting Waterloo I make a point of stopping and getting a sidecar seasonal latte and I buy some of their espresso beans to take home. Today I tried the Dolly Parton latte which was cherry cake batter and it was lovely. Delicious and I love supporting this small business.

Slow service, waited 5 minutes with nobody in line ahead of us before our order was taken. Ordered breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Chose a sticky table not covered in crumbs. Reasonable wait for coffee drinks, sandwiches were forgotten, had to remind staff. Waited another 10 minutes for sandwiches. No creamer anywhere in sight. Seems like drive-thru takes priority. Wish I didn’t tip them. No second chances for first impression. I won’t be back.
