I have been coming here with my grandma since I was a little girl and hadn’t been in a really long time after she passed away. My aunt flew into town and I thought what better place to go than a little trip down memory lane since it’s holiday time and we miss her so much. I ordered what I did when I was a little girl trying to bring back the memory which was a smothered bean burrito with lettuce and tomato. I also order Chili cheese fries which the waitress recommended adding chicharonnes. My aunt ended up getting the menudo with flour tortillas. The chili fries came with chicharonne which did not taste like the crispy pieces I am use to at other places since the waitress recommended it I was looking forward to it. My burrito came which tasted like it did back in the day so I was super happy about that! My aunt’s menudo came but they never brought her tortillas. We waited and I shared my food with her until we finally got them. We weren’t offered dessert just given our bill in a rush to get us out. Honestly this place had such a special memory for me and I wish I hadn’t gone back because the service just isn’t the same.

Frequented place for many years. Food is pretty authentic and tasty but prices have increased in the past 4 years a lot more than most Mexican spots. Main reason why I don’t go as often. the menudo is good depends what day you go. Tasty green chili on smothered burritos. A pleasant atmosphere with nice music. Friendly staff most of the time.

El Tejado is hands-down one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Denver! Every bite tasted homemade and full of flavor — from the perfectly seasoned enchiladas to the tender chile verde smothered burrito and tamale. The rice and beans were classic and comforting, and everything came out piping hot and beautifully plated.
And the horchata? Absolutely incredible — creamy, perfectly spiced, and refreshing.
If you’re craving traditional Mexican comfort food with rich sauces and real flavor, El Tejado is a must. Can’t wait to come back!

Great food and place seems clean staff could be nicer… Front door girl is never nice. The fajitas are amazing. Over all great place to eat and have a drink. Food 5 stars… service 3.5 stars… front girl 2 stars… time you wait for food 4 stars…

Marcos behind the bar is the best. Quick, attentive, and a great guy. Solid Molcajete, I recommend the seafood, but you really can’t go wrong anywhere on the menu. The giant margaritas are appetizing but ask for an organic. Trust me.

Came here looking for a new staple Mexican place after a bad day and wow did I find it. Food? Incredible. Service? So warm and friendly. Drinks? Strong but delicious and not overpriced. And an order of churros comes with all 3 flavors! Had a pork chimichanga and not only was the pork falling apart tender, but the pieces were huge and it was all flavored perfectly. Homemade refried beans. I could go on. Come give these people your money.

I ordered steak green chili cheese fries to go and specifically requested veggie green chili because I do not eat pork. When I got home, the fries had no green chili at all.
I called the restaurant expecting a replacement or refund, but instead I was told they would only give me some green chili next time I come in. That doesn’t help when the meal I paid for was wrong and already ruined.
I didn’t want to argue, so I simply said I’d find another restaurant that actually pays attention to orders. I had to have my wife make some green chili. Disappointing customer service and no accountability for their mistake. I won’t be returning. Sometimes it’s just better to cook at home. Very unfortunate I thought I could make this a regular spot.

The food was pretty good! Worth about $20? Maybe. The fajitas came out sizzling hot and tasted yum. Some of toppings—guacamole in particular—were lacking. I got a dab of guacamole fit for a children’s meal and would have liked more cheese. But I made it stretch.
The service was okay but on the slow side and not super-attentive. The atmosphere was okay but was rather dated.
Overall, not bad for a Mexican-food stop. I wouldn’t mind eating there again.

My girlfriend and I had lunch here just the other day and it was amazing! She had never been here before and I had to share this gem of a restaurant with her. The food was so delicious, our waitress was so attentive and consistent making sure we had a perfect meal. The guacamole appetizer is so good and I highly recommend the frozen fruit flavored margaritas they serve, if you like a good drink. The atmosphere is phenomenal too, very classy and traditional “south of the border” feel with a touch of modern culture. You are in for a great experience and I recommend that you go here if you want to eat good food and enjoy a good date night or whatever the occasion may be. Check it out ASAP if you haven’t been before, you will not be disappointed!

The last time I visited, we were seated and waited 15 minutes without anyone taking our order. I had to flag down a server, who responded, “I’m not your waiter,” and walked away. Only after we explained that we had already been waiting did he decided to take our order.
When the food finally arrived, one person’s meal was missing. The waiter came back about five minutes later and said he would be right out with it but another 15 minutes passed and it still never came and no communication about it was shared.
At that point, I went to the hostess to ask for a manager. The manager turned out to be the bartender. I explained the situation, and his response was, “What do you want me to do?” which was incredibly unprofessional. When I asked for the missing plate to be canceled and requested our check, he laughed.
Overall, the service was dismissive and unacceptable. Don’t come here if you want attentive service or expect everyone at your table to actually receive their food.
