Have eaten here several times. The wait staff has always been top notch. Food has always been fresh and tasty. Always feels and looks clean. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that most times you can smell the bathrooms as you walk in the front door, as they are located right there. Its not that the bathroom is nasty, it seems more like a sewer gas type smell. But Im not an expert!
But I definitely recommend the restaurant.

Amazing atmosphere, great customer service as soon as we walked in the door we were greeted with joy.

Food was delicious with authentic flavors
Always trying to find a good authentic experience
I had menudo which was so delicious the flavor was so on point reminded of places in California I would spend with my mom.

My boyfriend had th blacken fish with rice and beans and he really enjoyed it.

We had some fun shots we will definitely be back soon.

You walk in and are hit by a bad smell. The chips are burned and cold. Taco same way. Kind of stale. The lettuce mix is like a salad blend with cabbage. It’s out of place. And old and gross. Every thing tased like old food quickly reassembled and shoved out Luke warm.

Used to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in south Austin, however within the year, they’ve gone significantly downhill. I looked past the intoxicated servers in the past, because the food tasted so good, but now it’s just sub par. They’ve become extremely stingy for portioning, and especially over-priced for the quality of the food. If you’re low on sodium this is the place for you! If you’re looking for Mexican food that taste like it’s cooked by a middle aged white woman who never learned how to properly season her food, this is the perfect place for you!

I recently visited Don Dario’s Cantina Restaurant in South Austin and had a pleasant dining experience. The food was flavorful and satisfying, with a variety of traditional Mexican dishes to choose from. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive atmosphere.

While I’ve experienced exceptional Mexican cuisine elsewhere, Don Dario’s still stands out as a good option for those craving Mexican food in Austin. It’s a place worth visiting for its good food and welcoming service.

Well, I like everything about Don Darios! It is a little hard to get to in afternoon work traffic, but well worth the trouble!

First, I adore Mr. Dario, the founder. He is the kindest and most humble successful restauranteur one shall ever meet. Moreover, he taught his son, Don Dario, Jr. how to best treat customers and how to make the best Mexican Martini you will ever have in your life – the El Presidento Mexican Marini, that goes beyond the Dario’s Mexican Martini with Tequila, Cointreau, real, fresh Lime Juice, and a splash of olive juice. You should ask for it!

Second, I love all the authentic Mexican dishes including one of my all-time favorite Mexican dishes, the battered, fire-roasted stuffed Chile Relleno (your choice of beef picadillo, chicken or potatoes), always with jack cheese and topped with salsa ranchero, just delectable – que rico!!!! Moreover, for the adventurist, tried and true by me, a long-time Mexican foodie, check out the Don’s Keep Austin Weird Chilie Relleno.

Last and difficult to choose from the many authentic, Mexican food delicacies, my most favorite, never- before knew-existed and hard-to-find Shrimp Nachos, so beautiful, delicious, and ever so hearty appetizer that, if dining alone, you must get a to-go box!

Went to a birthday party there and we haven’t been there in a few years. It’s definitely not what it used to be. We sat in the patio and would have to go to the bar to order our drinks and food which had 20% tip charge added to everything for every purchase. Restrooms were dirty, air vents dusty.

Delicious, fresh, fast. This place has tasty food, no fake cheese, no sketchy ingredients. Staff are very friendly and service is fast. Chips and salsa were great, the burritos compuesto was delicious with very high quality cheese melted on top (and plenty of it). The ground beef was properly cooked and tasted very fresh. Restaurant had a great atmosphere. Very fair prices, will keep coming back!
