We were really looking forward to all you can eat soup and salad (which usually means 2 cups of soup and 1 salad) but this location doesn’t offer it.
I did order a soup with my burrito though. My soup bowl was only half full and not hot so I was disappointed, I had the carne asada burrito that was mostly beans and onions i found 2 small bites of carne asada, again very disappointed.my daughter ordered a macho combo plate to share with her son, this is a great value! Four of their most popular items on one platter:
a fire-roasted pasilla chile relleno, a chicken
and sour cream enchilada, a beef barbacoa
crispy taco and a handmade chicken tamale.
Served with refried beans and rice. The beef barbacoa taco was so overcooked it just wasn’t edible, the enchilada, tamale and relleno were wonderful.
Everything seemed overly spicy today. The gentleman behind us started coughing and broke into a sweat and then excused himself saying his stomach was on fire.
Our server was excellent!! He was genuine, helpful and had a great smile!
It was 11:00am so no excuse for overcooked and poorly prepared food.

El Torito is located off MacArthur Blvd and Michelson Drive across the street from John Wayne Airport. It’s a good spot to stop at if you’re hungry, you want to avoid the premium prices restaurants inside the airport charge, and you have time for a sit down meal before catching your flight. If half stars were an option, I’d rate them a solid 3.5.
I recommend visiting on a Tuesday between 4-9 pm so you can take advantage of both their happy hour menu and Taco Tuesday. At the time of this review, El Torito is serving up street tacos with your choice of chicken, carnitas, al pastor and/or steak for only $3 each! I wouldn’t expect the highest quality Mexican food but I will say their food is consistent. They also offer great buffets during the holidays you’ll def need to make a reservation ahead of time for. Buen provecho!

Food was okay had the slow cooked carnival. The guacamole was delightful. The salsa was dreadful some swill devoid of any tomatoes. Service was good and pleasant, doubt I will visit this place again

The opportunity to have lunch here on a Tuesday, busier than I expected, but not too bad. What are myself? A carne asada burrito chimichanga style, very tasty but good God a little bit too spicy for my liking. Before the burrito we got some Warm crispie chips with salsa, the salsa was spicy but a good kind. I wish I would have got our server’s name, but overall great place to have a meal!

Our waitress was Yaneth and she made the experience for us! We came on a Sunday during a busy AYCE brunch service expecting it to be crazy and Yaneth took great care of us making us feel like we were the only patrons she was serving. They have a self-service coffee station, and she even went so far as to bring me a cup to save me a trip after I got my food. We will definitely be coming back with more family next weekend.

Just yesterday……..I wanted to take advantage of my El Toritos free meal Birthday voucher. I am disabled so it was hard enough to walk from the handicap parking spot to the seating area inside the doorway. The manager on duty, CHELY was willing to accommodate my request for a simple take home order. She even helped me get onto the restaurants wi-fi to confirm the voucher because I had NOT printed or saved it ahead of time. She was so kind and patient to assist in my need for help even tho the restaurant was at its Sunday Brunch busiest. CHELY proved to be a true customer service oriented manager, professionally and personally. Thank you CHELY.

The food was amazing and my glass was never empty. Our server Roberto Martinez was an amazing server and great addition to the whole time spent in the restaurant. We came with a party of nine and left feeling like he was a part of the family. Amazing food and atmosphere. 10/10
