After dining at Thoreau’s I am not sure how to rate the restaurant. My wife newborn and I dined here for our Mother’s Day celebration. Our Evening was off to a great start until my steak arrived well done when I ordered it medium rare. We sat waiting to be waited on for 30 minutes so I could get a new steak. We then had to ask a neighboring waitress for a new steak and where our waitress had gone. She replied that our waitress had gone on break like that somehow explained why we were no longer being served. Another 20 goes by and my new steak arrives and I again ask the bus boy who are waitresses was and why we are no longer being waited on. The new steak was cooked properly, but our evening had ended. The manager came over and comped the whole meal as we wrapped up our evening still without a waitress.

I will give the restaurant another shot and update accordingly as I hope this was an isolated incident

Thoreau’s is the pub area of twenty-eight Atlantic at the Wequassett Resort in Cape Cod. We dined here one night, and at twenty-eight Atlantic the other night. Both experiences were fantastic. We loved the decor of Thoreau’s, which is a little more laid back. All the paneled wooded walls in the dining room are really nice, but most importantly, the food and service at this establishment are fantastic! Both restaurants are a must visit, especially if you’re staying at the resort.

Salads were suspect. Lettuce had funny taste. 20% Service fee added to the bill before tip for waitress. Very high price for level of food servid. Steak $60. Not nearly as good as Del Frisco or Ruth’s Crisp.

Squash soup was very good . the wagyu burgers were very salty. Did mention that to waitress . The cheese cake was also very tasty. The cappuccinos.We’re good. The waitress told us since our burgers were salty. They weren’t charging us for the cappuccinos or dessert. They did the right thing the waitress service was excellent.

The food is amazing!! We ate the apps and entrees too quickly before I could get a picture, but I did get a picture of the dessert and espresso martinis that were a perfect way to end the meal. They even gave my daughter a lobster stuffy to play with! The wait staff were so friendly and kind. Would definitely go back!

Best mocktail ever and a very very good rum,lime, pineapple cordial and tequila cocktail. Food looked good but our order didn’t get placed in time for our departure so they comped a drink. Very good. Looking forward to returning.

If you are looking for a place with great food, great service, and great atmosphere. This is the place to go. I was incredibly impressed with the staff. Very professional and attentive. The food was delicious and the presentation was amazing. The inside of the restaurant was beautiful. The lighting and flooring added to the atmosphere. The reason I gave the place a lower star value was because of two reasons. The first was how hard it was to find the place. The only reason I found it was because I asked someone at a wedding next door where to find it. There was no signage indicating where exactly it was. Secondly, when I got the check there was a 20% service charge. The waitress informed us at the end about it but there was no explanation on why we were paying an additional resort fee when we are not even staying there. I looked at the website to figure it out and could find nothing. The website itself is incredibly bare bones. I thought initially the service fee was for the tip. But below it there is a gratuity fee section. The staff were incredible and I don’t feel they shouldn’t get a tip. So we did pay that. But I wish a service fee was not thrust on us after we had gone. Otherwise, if you are okay with the fee and can find the place. The staff are great, food is incredible, and atmosphere is sublime.

Went for the first time to this local hidden gem. Had an absolutely delicious and beautiful meal. The staff was amazing from the greetings at the door to the wonderful server Ellie that did an amazing job making sure everything was perfect. The manager Karin also made sure we enjoyed our first visit while we were dining. I cannot recommend enough! An atmosphere like no where else. Food was delicious
