Every time I order something is messed up or missing that is listed on their menu. The fajita baked potato skimpy on the cheese and potato. They charge extra if you get a taco salad and want to sub the beans for rice, and skimpy on the cheese sauce I paid extra for. On most dishes they don’t offer pico you have to pay extra for it, and used to pico came with several dishes on the menu. Last night I ordered the fajita chimichanga which was according to their menu supposed to be two chimichangas, with guacamole. I checked before I left there was one chimichanga, and no guacamole. I went back inside, and I told them according to their menu there was supposed to be two. He said no that wasn’t correct. I asked where the guacamole was and he looked at my plate trying to find what wasn’t there which irritated me. He did give me a large guacamole for the mistake. I get back to work and it was a shrimp chimichanga. I had ordered the fajita chimichanga with chicken. The food is good, but the service and the price sucks. I gave them 3 chances, and each time there was a problem and I won’t be back. They are also not very customer service oriented either.

The food was good and the service was pretty quick but it was entirely too loud. It was not crowded so I guess it’s the acoustics in the building. We enjoy the southside restaurant much better.

Great service, friendly, fast. But I ordered caldo tlalpeño and I got a bowl of chicken, rice, and broth. I guess they think people don’t know the difference. There were no veggies, no chickpeas, no chipotles, no garnishes or toppings offered.
My dinner companion ordered beef nachos and they were good. Very loaded and lots of guacamole.

I ate entirely too much here today but the meal was great and the service was above par. Being famished, I chose the Tapaito as my lunch option. The guacamole on the tostada was fresh and delicious. The seasoned beef is just right with chips and salsa, well prepared. My only issue was the Long Island Iced Tea is prepared MUCH better at the South location and honestly I was disappointed with it. Way too much mix, no bite. I would’ve imagined a bigger bar set up from the outside but the tables are spacious and the people are great.

I’ve never complained about food especially not a fan of bad reviews. I eat at los portals all over west Tennessee and normally have great, consistent experiences. This is my first time at this one. The fajitas came out so hot I had to keep stirring for a solid 5 minutes and half of the order was still too charred to eat. No tomatoes in them and the guy that took the order never came back to the table. I had to ask a different staff member for a refill and then again had to track someone down for the check. There were 4 active tables counting mine. The food was terrible and so was the service. I would have complained but I never saw my server again and the lady giving refills was obviously just a food runner doing her best and she spoke very little English.

Food so salty you couldn’t taste it. Sent back the first time because it was cold, taco salad, beef. The meat felt like it was just taken out of the refrigerator. Service was terrible.

Walking distance from Holiday Inn Express.

What a little gem. The portions are huge! Could easily feed 3 people per plate. And good prices too.

Crappy guacamole. Old brown avocado that tasted old as it looked. Returned the first bowl and second was just as bad, but mostly chopped onions. Salsa was plain tomatoes out of a can. Shrimp fajitas over cooked. No pico with fajitas. Service slow, and waitress acted unhappy we were there. We won’t be back.

Los Portales has never been knock you off your chair good Mexican however, it’s reliable and a “go to” in the Jackson area.

Was in and out in about 35 for a decent lunch. Just shy of $10 for a lunch special with drink.
