I ordered a 6oz filet (medium), loaded mashed potatoes, and a house salad.. Our two servers did a fantastic job managing the large group and it didn’t appear that any member of our party wanted for anything over the course of our stay..
My filet was cooked exactly as I ordered it, my mashed potatoes were amply loaded, and the house salad was cold, fresh, and crisp, just as a salad should be.. The Italian dressing had a great flavor, too..
This was my first visit to this Santa Fe in some time but based on my experience I will certainly revisit it sooner the next time around..
I walked in at 5:00 PM on a Friday and was greeted by an empty host stand. After standing there for a moment, a girl eventually wandered over wearing full over-the-ear Beats headphones and looked at me like I had interrupted her day. She didn’t say a word. I had to ask if I could sit at the bar to eat. Her response was a flat “yes, enjoy your meal,” with zero eye contact or effort.
The bar was nearly empty. Just me and two other patrons. The bartender had the personality of a brick. No greeting, no smile, no attempt at basic hospitality. I ordered a water while looking over the menu, then placed a very simple order: house margarita, filet medium rare, baked potato, and a salad.
The margarita never came.
At some point, bread was dropped in front of me with an overly sweet cinnamon butter that tasted nothing like what they are clearly trying to copy from Texas Roadhouse. It was honestly unpleasant.
When my steak arrived, the bartender suddenly remembered I had ordered a margarita. At that point, I told her not to bother. The filet I ordered medium rare came out nearly blue rare. Completely wrong.
The overall atmosphere was laughable. The employees were clustered around the bar and drink station, hanging out, drinking sodas, and treating the place like a social club. This is not how a restaurant prepares for a Friday night dinner crowd. It felt disorganized, lazy, and unprofessional.
Add to that burnt-out lights on the exterior sign and questionable cleanliness inside, and this place just feels neglected. With so many better options nearby, I genuinely don’t see this restaurant lasting much longer.
Save your money and eat somewhere else.
Stop in a try for yourself. Friendly staff too.
I visited Santa Fe Cattle Co. for another work lunch and had a wonderful dining experience. This time, we tried a variety of menu items, including the Southwest Chicken Pasta, Santa Fe Club, and the Big A Burger. Each dish was deliciously prepared with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. The burgers were juicy and well-seasoned, while the salads were fresh and crisp, complementing the hearty meals perfectly. It’s always a pleasure to dine at Santa Fe Cattle Co., where the food consistently impresses and the atmosphere is ideal for both casual lunches and special occasions.
