I really wanted BBQ for my Valentines meal today. My husband and I went to Stamey’s. The waitress was great. We asked for Splenda, she provided a generous supply. Our drinks and water were never empty. My husband was thrilled with his pulled pork plate. Trying to choose wisely, I chose the chopped chicken sandwich with mac & cheese as my side. My first disappointment was the mac & cheese was bland and cold, not nearly as flavorful as other times I’ve been. I didn’t even finish it. My biggest disappointment was the chopped chicken. It really wasn’t chopped well at all. There were huge untouched chunks, and it was dry. It needs to be chopped thoroughly, or even shredded. At one point I tried chopping it myself with my fork. I decided it just wasn’t worth it and gave it to my husband. I guess next time I’ll order the pulled pork. I will be back, but today I was very disappointed.

Stamey’s BBQ is a staple of the Piedmont for delicious food. I had the small BBQ plate with hush puppies and collards. Half and half iced tea to drink. It was all so delicious. The pork was lean with no fat. There homemade sauce or dip is icing on the cake! It brings out extra flavor from the pork. My wife had the BBQ sandwich with Cole slaw and fresh cooked crinkle cut fries. Yummy yummy she ate it all and she normally leaves a tad on the plate. All delicious today without a doubt! I will put Stamey’s BBQ up against any BBQ restaurant. Lexington has nothing on Stamey’s!!!

Been going here for 30 years! It is my Gold standard for NC BBQ! I compare all others to them… Some come close but nothing truly compares!

I can’t say enough good things about Stamey’s BBQ! The food is always a win, but the experience I had today truly set them apart.

I called during the Friday afternoon shift, and the assistant manager and the entire team on duty were absolutely incredible. They went above and beyond to help me locate an item I had misplaced during a business dinner there last week. As a local professional who frequently hosts professional gatherings, I truly appreciated their willingness to take the time and genuinely care about helping me out—it was world-class.

It’s rare to find a spot that pairs legendary BBQ with such authentic, high-level customer service. Great restaurant, even better people!

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember to get good authentic NC pork BBQ. Consistently excellent. I prefer the sliced pork sandwiches over the chopped. Very convenient location across the street from the Greensboro Coliseum. The Brunswick stew is quite good and not found on the menu in many modern establishments these days. If you’re looking for Texas style beef brisket, or St. Louis or Memphis style ribs, this is NOT the place.

We decided as a family(group) to get together for a meal. There was seventeen of us and I know that can be overwhelming for the waitress. She was pleasant, attentive, and willing to help us with our orders. The orders were prepared and brought to the table in a timely fashion(quick). It has been some time since we ate here at this restaurant and with the fellowship, food, and experience we will probably be back in the near future.

This absolutely the best North Carolina barbecue. Perfect and balanced flavors. Superior to most other bbq. I only get to Greensboro once or twice a year , but always make it a point to always hit this Stameys for a meal. The hot dogs ‘all the way’ are pretty great too.
Only disappointment was the milk shake – the waitress said I could get a milkshake with the peach cobbler flavoring added. The shake was actually just peach cobbler and ice dream all stirred up together. It wasn’t even cold and really was just awful. I actually just had to throw it away after trying a couple sips. Disappointing and I do not recommend that at all.
The shake does not reflect on the food though, which is always excellent .

Had the half chicken with sliced pork plate. Meat was tender, sauces were excellent. Great service and atmosphere

I’ve never been to Stameys but I’m being subjected to it for a work lunch event. This is hands down the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. There’s not a single redeeming quality of anything on my plate. It’s all flavorless mush. Even the sweet tea sucks. Normally I’d never leave a review like this but this pulled pork is so awful, it alone necessitates this review.

Just okay. The service was good and the food was tasty, but mine was cold and brought out within 5 minutes of ordering. It’s like it had been kept under a warmer, but not served fresh/hot.
