Dinner was absolutely wonderful. Each course was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our waiter was attentive without ever being intrusive, and we truly enjoyed interacting with him throughout the evening. His professionalism and friendly personality added to the experience and made the night feel even more personal.
Most importantly, my wife and I had a fantastic time celebrating Valentine’s Day here. It was a memorable evening in a beautiful setting, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Paris.
The restaurant is situated in a house that has so much character and atmosphere. The setting is intimate and warm. For those who love taking pictures for social media (not us), this place is a gem. Every dining room is different and well decorated so it feels special.
Service was prompt and professional, though a bit terse and distant (even in Parisian context). We asked for a wine recommendation and was suggested a Pinot noir. We ordered foie gras appetizer to share and ordered the duck and steak as main course. The foie gras was delicious and great to share. The duck was also very good. However, my steak (and vegetables served with then steak) arrived cold, likely sitting at the kitchen a tad too long. The server quickly saw to it that it was warmed back up promptly. Still the steak was under seasoned (I rarely add salt to restaurant food), so this was a surprise. Overall, the steak was not memorable and I would recommend the duck instead
For dessert, we ordered the ile flottante, which was absolutely delicious and well presented.
As we went to pay for the meal, we realized that the server did not serve us the Pinot Noir he recommended, but a higher price bottle instead. Since we drank the wine, we were fine to pay for what we consumed. But we didn’t appreciate the sudden change of story about the wine he suggested being not available (and not telling us). Again, we are fine paying for the slightly more expensive wine since we drank it, but the lack of communication leaves a bad taste in the mouth at the end.
As many have noted, this place is nice and the decor beautiful (5/5). Food wise, it’s moderate to good, somewhat inconsistent (cold main dish), 3/5. Service is mediocre to underwhelming 3/5.
We will try to remember this as being our St Valentines meal and move on. Unlikely to come back again, since we have experienced better during our first half of Paris visit.
Ambiance is warm and delightful. So traditional.
Sadly the food was not what we remembered. Sauce for the steak wasn’t quite right. The fois gras also lacked a “Je ne sais pas”. Hopefully they will get it right next time.
All else is just perfect.
The food, of course is all delicious : the serving of foie gras was substantial and delicious with the crustinis provided. The escargot was buttery garlic goodness and again an ample serving, and they kept bringing bread if we needed to soft up more of the butter. And then the duck… Rich and delicious.
This is the second time we’ve eaten here . Still fantastic and the service is wonderful course.
Make sure you visit the bathroom, but don’t bump your head as you go down into the cellar.
The food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. The pork was delicious, though the portion size felt a little on the small side. The duck was excellent, and the snails stood out as especially well-prepared.
While the meal was expensive for a young couple, the cost felt reasonable when compared to other restaurants of similar quality. In the end, the atmosphere was the highlight and made the evening special. We had a very enjoyable time.
