We were a party of two and decided to check this out as part of Pittsburgh restaurant week. This was a mistake. The menu seemed fine but the execution was amateur at best.
My first course was clam chowder. It was edible but the clams were in their shells. This was an inconvenient and messy.
My partner’s first course was French onion fondue with garlic croutons. The foundue was a large clump of cheese with onion in it. Edible but not enjoyable.
My second course was the cacio de pepe ravioli. The ravioli was undercooked and under seasoned.
My partner’s second course was the braised short ribs with roasted vegetables and popover. The short rib was chewy and the popover was plain. The highlight of this dish was the vegetables!
My third course was the best one! I got the lemon bar with blueberry compote. It was simple and tasty.
My partner got the chocolate creme brulee with berries. This was runny and berries didn’t help the dish.
The service was polite but pretty slow.
I would not recommend going here. Anywhere else would probably be better.

Dinner was amazing. Got to meet the Sue Chef August and he is an awesome chef. His culinary skills really came out. If you like seared Tuna this is some some of the best I have had accross the country. Even with it being in a logo container.

The breakfast crew needs to step it up a lot.

I didn’t expect to be so extraordinarily happy and content with every aspect of my experience this evening. The Millwood certainly knows how to deliver in superb bar service, exquisite dining, and just an overall exemplary culinary experience. I don’t review often and very rarely am I so thoroughly satisfied and impressed by a meal that I am compelled to comment in this fashion. But here I am. I can typically tell by my drink if I’m going to enjoy my meal thoroughly. Jessica is a bartender that knows what she is doing. She curated my drink to my preference and specifications while adding her personal flair that had me very impressed. Her meal suggestions were spot on and kudos to the chef because I really ate every last drop. I’m writing this review while I sip on my drink contemplating dessert despite my full belly. I don’t even have pictures to share because I ate so quickly. Don’t hesitate choosing The Millhouse. You won’t regret it. And don’t forget to ask for Jessica!

Restaurant Week at Millhouse was so worth it! Everything we tried was delicious, starting with the Smoked Clam Chowder Stew. It was creamy, smoky, pancetta goodness with toast to dip… absolutely loved it. The Beet Salad was super fresh and the whipped feta charred orange vinaigrette combo was chef’s kiss.

Entrées were just as impressive. The Braised Short Rib literally fell apart at the fork, and the root veggies popover made it feel like a cozy, elevated Sunday dinner. The House Fried Chicken was crispy, juicy, and came with smoked mashed potatoes, gravy, and slaw.

10/10 would go back again. Millhouse understood the assignment for Restaurant Week!

Usually I only write glowing reviews, but I have to be honest. This was one of the worst experiences our family has had in a really long time. We had a party of 7 on Saturday night at 5:30pm. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers. The brussel sprouts came in a cereal bowl, with no serving utensil and was very hard to get the food out without spilling it all over the place. We also weren’t given any small plates to eat off of. When I asked the server, he came back with saucer plates with the grooves to hold coffee cups. Service was overall slow and it seemed like he wasn’t paying attention to us. It wasn’t busy, there was one other table.
Second round of drinks were wrong, but it took too long to wait to ask for a redo that some of us just drank what we didn’t order.
The risotto with the salmon was INEDIBLE. We all tried a little, it tasted like chemicals and had to spit it out. One of us got a salad with salmon on it. The piece of salmon had at least 3 bones in it. My entree wedge salad was a side salad size with 3 tiny pieces of chicken for $28.
We are typically a “go with the flow” family, but after receiving the bill, we were astonished at the price. The bill came to over $500. We are not cheap and normally don’t complain, but someone has got to speak up. Nothing was comped, no manager came over to apologize for the litany of things wrong. It truly was such terrible food and WAYYY over priced!! Unfortunately, we just had to pay the full bill, be polite and reluctantly leave a 22% tip.
We would have been better off at Eat N Park and saved hundreds of dollars. What a shame!

Staff was very nice and the food was good, but the portion sizes did not match the price, even for downtown inflated prices. The gnocchi carbonara was $27 for barely any pasta, though the $19 burger was decent for downtown prices.

A must-taste experience in Pittsburgh.

The Millhouse is something special. Every dish I tried was layered, intentional, and honestly unforgettable. You can feel the creativity and care that went into the menu — it’s not just food, it’s a full-on experience.

The chef is clearly doing more than just cooking; they’re telling a story with every plate. It’s bold, inspired, and somehow still incredibly comforting. This is the kind of place you walk away from thinking, “I need to come back — and bring everyone I know.”

If you’re in PGH and even remotely into food, do yourself a favor and try The Millhouse. It’s truly one of the most exciting spots I’ve tasted in the city.
