⭐️ Cozy Seafood Stop on the Scenic Drive from Boone – Fresh, Fast & Friendly
Driving south from Boone on the beautiful Highway 321, I found Mayflower Seafood in Lenoir — a warm, welcoming spot that feels like a classic local seafood restaurant. The place has a simple, home-style vibe, fast service, and generous portions that make it a great stop after a long drive through the mountains.
I ordered the fried fish plate with onion rings, steamed broccoli, coleslaw, and a bowl of clam chowder. Everything came out hot, fresh, and surprisingly clean in flavor — nothing heavy, nothing greasy. The fish was seasoned well, the onion rings were crispy, and the chowder was comforting and not overly salty. Portions are large, so come hungry.
Service was fast and friendly, and the staff checked in a couple of times to make sure everything was good. The restaurant is family-friendly, the dining room feels clean and organized, and the restrooms were well maintained. There’s also a free parking lot attached, which makes things easy.
If you’re driving the 321 and want a quick, honest seafood meal with good portions and warm service, this is a solid stop. I’d happily return.

Peyton was absolutely amazing!!!! Her professionalism was amazing! She was very friendly and helpful! Not only to myself, but also to the other customers she waited on, while I waited on my purchase! So much food!! I had the two item combo of clam strips and flounder, and it came with two whole pieces of fish and a mountain of clam strips! And our waitress was so nice and was on top of refilling our drinks.

My decon and I took a bike ride just to go where the rd took us for some much needed free time and we wanted some food I didnt know where we was he lead the ride and he said u like sea food I said shore he took me here and boy he was right great food nice waitresses great customer service and friendly and good prices for the massive plate servings

This is as most honest I can be.
I’ve lived in LENOIR my entire life. I have ate here maybe 3-4 times. I remember when it was Golden Corral. I did venture out today and try something new “Canadian flounder”. I personally wasn’t a fan and had to ask for seasoning. I can’t compare this to anything because well I’ve never tried it before, I just personally wasn’t a fan. It could be absolutely delicious to The Canadian flounder fans out there. Idk. Normally I just stick to foods I love, which the catfish here has always been very good. My fiancé enjoyed her food tonight tho, she lived the Shrimp scampi, and I actually really liked the hush puppies. But I’m very big on if I am paying money that I worked hard for, it’s gonna be ate. So I ate about 1 whole slice of the Flounder, but that’s all I could stomach of it. To just get it to turn around I ordered a slice of cheese cake. NOW I freaking love cheese cake.. that’s my go to dessert anywhere. Hell, I’ve probably had 300 some different ones. This cheese cake here literally turned my entire stomach. Just typing this out and thinking back to the meal makes my stomach turn. Idk if it was because it was paired with the flounder or what. The cheese cake was also tried by my fiancé, it was bad to her as well. It was slimy, inside was like a clumpy texture. Just tasted bad. Idk how to explain it. It was a tiny little slice and I didn’t finish it. I couldn’t. Purely terrible. So. Here’s my reflection my meal tonight 1 star… I didn’t like it at all “could just be a personal issue with it, again never ate the flounder before” but the cheese cake was the nail in the coffin. My fiancé rated her meal a 5 star. She ate every bite. I’m meeting in the middle and saying 3 stars. Owner if you are their currently please go try the cheesecake. I’m telling you, if you didn’t you truly wouldn’t wanna serve that out and trash at least that one. Idk what it was. Ewww.y fiancé enjoyed the dinner, and we will be back one day to give it another go, and if things are good I’ll come back and edit this review. But 3 is me being nice.

I can’t say enough about this place. From going to dine-in, getting it to-go or just ordering Blooming Onions and/or Hushpuppies for get together or Sunday Football at home their food is always on point. I’ve never once had bad food, bad service or anything bad from here! Go get y’all some seafood from Mayflower!

Saw this restaurant as we were passing by and decided to stop in on the way back. I wanted some great seafood but great was not what I found with a couple exceptions. Our greeter did not greet us she grabbed a couple menus and walked away. My wife gave me a nudge to follow her. For a seafood restaurant, I found the menu had limited options / types of fish. I chose the fried platter which had perch, scallops and shrimp. The scallops were small but they were cooked just right. I was disappointed in the batter they used, it was completely void of taste! I usually do not season my food but I had to in this case. I did like the hush puppies tho they were very tasty and served in a unique way. Our waitress was efficient but not very friendly. At the end of the meal, she left the order ticket and disappeared. No explanation, no total amount and after sitting awhile my better half took the ticket up front and paid. I would not recommend this restaurant. I have other reviews on Google, click follow and see if one helps you on your next adventure!
