If you are hungry and wanting to eat quickly, I would not recommend Jess & Jim’s.

The 3-star rating I’m giving the restaurant comes from a few different factors. Although the waiting area was busy when we walked in, we weren’t greeted. The hospitality we’re used to in the South just wasn’t there.

Once we were seated, we were quickly given waters and some pickled beets. It took a little while for our server to come around, but she was friendly. I also noticed their ordering process is a bit different — they take your appetizer order first, and then you don’t order your entrée until the appetizer comes out.

We ordered the onion rings, which were very good, but they were lukewarm at best. After quite some time our salads came out — spring mix with one slice of cucumber and a couple of onions.

Finally our steaks came out, and they were very good.

Overall, I’m glad we tried it, but it’s not something I would write home about or bring others to if we were back in town.

Our visit was neither great nor terrible. We were given a wait time when arriving and were seated within that time.

The process was different than what I was used too. Contact with our waitress was distant and spaced out. She was friendly though. The waiting to order until after the appetizer was served made the experience longer. So if you are in a hurry for dinner this may not be the choice for you.

I ordered prime rib but they were sold out already, not shocking at 8pm on Saturday. I had the ribeye instead that was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful.

Great steak, decent service and a different experience. Overall I enjoyed it but not a new stop on must visit on my next kc trip.

My wife and I have been wanting to check this local place out for a couple of years. Jess & Jim’s sounded great. We went early on a Friday night to grab some prime rib.

I had reservation reservations for us at 6 PM. We were seated promptly and had a server who was very kind and pretty good considering it was his second night working here.

We each ordered a cocktail, which were very good. And we each had prime rib. The meat itself was pretty stringy and hard to cut with the dull knives that we were given. Mine was undercooked.

I ordered mashed potatoes with brown Gravy, which were just okay. My wife enjoyed her baked potato a great deal though.

Our server brought out our food when we weren’t even halfway through our salads. He apologized because he knew he was early, but by the time we got to our entrées, they were cold. A great, or even good steakhouse would never do that.

The food quality was average or below, and the service was about the same. If you’re looking for mediocrity, you can find it here.

By the entrance, they have a list of 10 great steakhouses in the US. I have been to a few of them, including Peter Luger‘s, and Jess and Jim’s really has no place on this list. I literally laughed out loud as we passed by the sign on the way out.

Pretty great steak for the price. The twice baked potato was delicious too. Waitress was attentive and friendly. I’ll definitely be back.

I really don’t enjoy leaving bad reviews but this place needs no stars. We were in town and looked at the reviews on this steakhouse WOW were they completely wrong. Not sure if the reviews are from friends and family but they don’t deserve the reviews they have. Everything we ordered was bland, no seasonings on anything not even salt and pepper. My husband and son even asked for seasoning on their steaks and still nothing. My daughter ordered the chicken fried steak it was mostly fat the breading didn’t even stay on it, was very soggy and again no seasoning on the steak or in the breading. The baked potato was the only thing that was decent. Please don’t waste your time or money going here. Jack Stacks is down the street, go there your taste buds will thank you. I can get a better steak at golden corral. Not worth the money at all! My suggestion to the restaurant is to drop everything from the menu and serve the baked potatoes ONLY!

We were really excited to try the Playboy steak and get the full Jess & Jim’s experience. The atmosphere had that classic steakhouse vibe, and our server was friendly and welcoming when we arrived.
Unfortunately, the steak itself was a major disappointment. It was served to us frozen in the center. When we brought it to their attention, the same steak was placed back on the grill rather than being remade. At that point, we declined and decided to leave. Our Diet Coke was also forgotten during the meal. We still left a tip for our waiter because we understand things happen, but overall the experience did not match the reputation we were hoping for.
We truly wanted to love this place and hope this was just an off night. With better attention to food quality and service details, it could live up to the classic steakhouse experience it’s known fo

We always have the best experience here. We have celebrated many birthdays and anniversarys here. The atmosphere is cozy like you’re at your grandparents house. The food is always perfectly cooked and delicious. One time our steaks were a little overdone, they brought us entirely new steaks. The service is top notch here and they accommodate all size parties. The prices are incredibly reasonable for being a steakhouse. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Been awhile. Yes it’s expensive. Yes we love the staff and train.
I for got what I ordered. A burger with no bun but they call it something else. It was awesome. With a salad and mashed potatoes and dark gravy. Kids are there meals. Mac and cheese looked weak but who cares. My martini could have used a bit more to top it off for the price.

But it was delicious.

And our waitress was awesome.
So another five star !

Sat outside. Was so nice. The trains were entertaining. Service was great. Efficient but not hovering. The fried mushrooms are homemade not freezer to fryer. Server recommended the ribeye. Cook was perfect. Nicely but not overly seasoned. The homemade carrot cake was fantastic. The only two flaws, were the potato could have been hotter, and the coffee was not up to the quality of the rest of the meal. But I still ate and enjoyed the potato, and drank the coffee.

Stopped by on way home to Tennessee on the reviews from Google. We hit it at 3pm. The place was empty. Our meal started with pickled beet( a lovely surprise ) they were wonderful. The salad with homemade dressing was good. The 14oz strip steak that came out sizzling on the plate was a show stopper. It was coupled with green beans for me, mashed potatoes for the hubby which were both good. He finished with key lime pie, I couldn’t force another bite i was so stuffed. There was a nice wine and beer menu which we didn’t sample due to continued driving on interstate towards home. Great meal in a family run establishment.
