Home of the Monster German Weiner. The year was 1980. Ronald Reagan took office as president. The Rubik’s Cube made its debut. And a quirky, German deli and restaurant called Mr. Dunderbak’s opened in the Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville, Fla. In the 1990s, the Zarkas re-opened as European Street Cafe. Today, E. Street encompasses three restaurants throughout Jacksonville: Riverside, San Marco and Jacksonville Beach. E. Street remains one of the most popular and beloved restaurants in Northeast Florida, with 100+ menu items and one of the most extensive beer selections in the city. Not only is it a place where everybody knows your name, but it’s one where they know your drink (and your sandwich, if you’re a regular).
Stacked sandwiches, desserts & a huge beer selection star at this comfy German-inspired local chain.

Our baby even got in on the fun with the Monster German Wiener Jr., and at just 10 months old he absolutely loved it. We can’t wait to come back and try more!
Second visit: I got the California Ruben and thought it was good! It had a very small amount of coleslaw though so I wish there was more of that.
As a dog owner, it’s hard to find great food and a welcoming spot for my pup. European Street hits the spot on both counts! It’s a rare find, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this gem. Whether you’re a foodie or a dog lover (or both!), European Street is a must-visit destination.
