Social Profile:

We serve traditional French regional food in a bistrot style atmosphere using local sources for meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, and cheeses. We are a BYOB. We also serve unique, hard to find dishes like fresh foie gras and cassoulet and use in many dishes truffle salt or saffron. Our cooking is from scratch and chef / owner Jay was trained in France. The bistrot décor is accented with francophone art from around the world.

Cozy bistro featuring a rotating menu of sophisticated French fare, plus a prix fixe lunch option.

My wife and I came to one of our favorite places and go to celebration venue for dinner after getting married today. Once again, the food was absolutely amazing with a perfect pairing of dishes that make your mouth drool for every bite. Jay the owner, cook, wine maker and much more makes you feel like he’s known you for years on the first introduction, and his wife is amazing as well, whom delights patrons with a magnificent song ! All of that in a quaint easy to find location. Highly suggest checking this place out!

This is a friendly quaint French Bistro that is like the French version of 80’s comedy show Cheers where everyone knows the staff/owner. The Bistro is also welcoming to newcomers like my wife and I and we felt like regular patrons by the end of the night. Searching for a French restaurant in western neighborhood was not easy and finding a cozy place with good French food was even harder. It beats the traffic going into Boston. My wife raved about the escargot and I loved the pate. The fresh froi gras which Jay specially made (not on the menu) was amazing. We had the special sea bass and wild boar shank and both were very tasty. An added bonus is that this is a BYOB so you can bring your personal favorite wine.

I enjoyed the soup of the day as well as the dessert. The main plate (boursin shrimp) was not my favorite. Two comments were made by staff which were unnecessary, making the restaurant atmosphere less enjoyable.

An absolute TRUE GEM! I lovvvvve The Metro Bistrot! A quaint little hideaway, French Restaurant, right in Southbridge! The place is Very small and not what you’d imagine, but the quality of food is OUT OF THIS WORLD, AMAZING!! I love how you can see the chef right there, cooking in front of you at the main bar, hence smelling the wonderful food while you wait. Everything was so fresh! And you can bring your own own drink! The appetizers already had us drooling, waiting for our main courses. I had the soup of the day (amazing!) and my husband had the ratatouille (sooo good!!).

The main courses also did Not disappoint. I had the Fish course. I want to say it was seabass that night. Whatever it was, it was cooked perfecrly and paired so well with white rice and peas. My husband’s veal dinner was very tasty too, accompanied with ratatouille, rice and peas. The one thing we did agree on though, was that the veal or veal sauce was a tad bit too salty. Other than that, the food was through the roof, really! We definitely plan to go back since it’s right in our neighborhood and is actually high quality food. The atmosphere was very relaxing as well. Pricing makes sense with this kind of quality food. I’m surprised it’s not more expensive.

Our experience at Metro was a mixed bag. We arrived for our reservation and were sat promptly, but as there was a much larger reservation in the other room service was very slow and lacking.

After being served water and some bread, we were left sitting with the menus for 40 minutes before our waitress came over. She was interrupted mid speech by the owner/manager and called away from the table to the larger group. We waited another 10 minutes for her to come back (not her fault, she was young and being pulled in every direction).

I understand that this place is meant to replicate the slower pace of the French Bistrot, however, as someone who has sat in many such restaurants in France, I’ve never waited that long to have an order taken.

The food, for its part, was very good. Simple ingredients, well prepared. They did give us a complimentary sausage plate, I assume to make up for the wait. We also got a “patience is a virtue” sort of comment from the owner/manager which we thought was strange as we did not complain while we were there.

To boot, the larger group cheered as we left and said “and don’t come back”. Now, I don’t know if this group is reflective of the normal clientele, but it definitely left a weird impression.

Overall, I recommend checking in when you reserve a table if there are any events going on. I imagine the experience is better when they don’t have a group of 20+ to wait on. I would only return if I could be sure we wouldn’t be clear afterthoughts.

One of the best restaurants in this area. The food is delicious, as elegant and well presented as any restaurant in Paris. Some of the freshest seasonal and foraged ingredients I have ever enjoyed. I especially recommend the escargot and quiche, as well as the cheese and dessert choices. We hope to return very soon, this is a very special and unique French restaurant with an amazing menu.

Absolutely great food with a lovely ambiance. It is BYOB, so just be aware of that! Also it’s not a bad idea to make a reservation since they have very few tables and you get the table for the whole evening. They usually have a lot of specials and new dishes so it’s always exciting to go!
