1st Time Visit.
The friendly hospitality is warm and comforting. There was a wait, WORTH IT!! The staff is so kind and friendly, quick with taking order if needed. Relaxing and warm atmosphere. The other patrons visiting were kind and spoke highly about the place, when I was waiting and told them it was my 1st visit. The food stayed warm throughout the time I was eating. My wife and I will definitely come back. The food did take a small bit of time but was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS and definitely worth it. The breakfast Tacos were stuffed with food. The Biscuits and Gravy and The Chicken n Waffkes definitely seemed like both items could feed 2 people.
My wife had Eggs Biscuits Sausage and Hasbrowns…she could not finish. I had 3 Tacos and I eat hardy and it was filling. Parking is just enough for this place. Z Grumpys is an old place that is warm and cozy and I have no doubt once you visit …you will continue to go for lunch. The pictures tell it all. I can’t wait to go back for the Steak and potatoes, and another day I want to try the chicken fried chicken. Lacey the waitress was just AMAZING. They have desserts at the front door will make you bring so home, like we did. Cream cheese danish. They have pies muffins and so much more. I really Appreciate these Family restaurants.
I don’t know what it is with Texas — we have all of these foods, especially here in San Antonio — but the one thing we’ve been unable to do is make a good country fried steak. But this place has no problem with that.
I will say the portion sizes are ginormous. We love to eat, and I could not finish mine, and my partner ate about half of his… which is unheard of when you put a chicken fried steak in front of him.
The service was amazing, and the food came out hot and fast. Probably some of the best toast I’ve had from a restaurant as well, and the biscuit was to die for. I absolutely love this place and we will be coming back.
The restaurant has 2 (maybe 3) rooms and it looks like a house on the outside. The inside makes me feel like I am in an abuela’s kotchen…especially with the serving sizes!
The breakfast chicken fried steak was so big it fell off the sides of the plate! It had to be cut in 4 pieces to get inside the box! The tacos are bigger than ANY I have seen before. The tortillas were soft and fluffy and oh so melt in your mouth!
The chicken and waffles with twister fries were awesome, amazing and too filling! I had a waffle that was soft and fluffy. The chicken was 4 pieces of crispy and melt inyour mouth goodness. The twisters were perfectly able to snap like all chips. It was quite yummy!!
The bacon cheese burger was tasty and what you would expect juicy…Hubby was able to sub the fries for onion rings which were crunchy on the inside and nice and tasty. Their ranch was as yummy as homemade!
I want to come back for lunch! We came right after church on Sunday and they had a table when we arrived. I will be back again!
Ok 2nd time coming, huevos rancheros is not it, tortillas um not it either. Carne guisada was great. And I got a cherry pie sooo well see
The grinch lady.
I can usually finish 2 breakfast tacos. Never been a problem before… My family tried to warn me that the portions are big here, but I didn’t listen.
I could not finish both tacos… 🙁
They are massive. Gotta be like 3 eggs in each… And for the price?? There are other taco places that are much more expensive and their offerings are tiny.
Like I said, if you’re REALLY hungry, go to Grumpy’s!!
I can’t wait to go back!
