In short . . this is my favorite Italian restaurant in all of Portland and surrounding areas. It hits all the marks beautifully and I have always enjoyed this place. Besides having the best, hearty spaghetti and meatballs in town, the portions are generous, the atmosphere, perfect and the service, very friendly! I have to keep coming back.
Also . . try the calzone, ravioli, pizza, lasagna and other dishes.
If you want a real treat . . order a quality pinot or cabernet and sip it along with a little dish of spumoni ice cream. It’s heaven!
Tried the Carbonara it was made with bacon so not traditional, but I went with it anyway. It was way too rich. Son ordered the Baked Rigatoni and it looked great. Best part of the whole dinner was the cheese bread but it was also just mid level.
Services was excellent.
Won’t be coming back any time soon, but still glad the old place exists. Love these old restaurants that have been a staple of the community for years.
It’s old-school Italian food with all the classics, which also includes pizza, sandwiches, and calezones. The atmosphere is big and loud like our Italian family with no pretentious wait staff or menu. The waitress did a great job of taking care of us. She was friendly and attentive, and all of our orders arrived perfectly.
We did have reservations that are required for parties over five due to our party of twelve, of which I booked online via their website.
Expect to have a to-go box of goods for lunch the next day. You also receive lots of garlic bread in an order, so try splitting those orders. To my delight, they offered spumoni for dessert option of which I indulged in happily! I was told that the cheesecake was really good, too.
Kudos!!
PS Pam is our favorite server.
I liked it. It was all serviceable food but nothing I would actively seek out.
Regardless of previous reviews, it is a cute venue with lots of decor and great ambience. The only issue i have would be with the food. The food here isn’t bad, but definitely could be more flavorful. The portions are VERY generous, but overall the food was a little bland.
I had the Italian sausage and peppers with pasta and meat sauce while my partner got the lasagna. My favorite item was the italian sausage, but just the sausage itself. Everything else was alright, nothing amazing. The appetizer trio was very good, but I can’t help but think the only freshly made item on it was the fried zucchini?
Last thing was the italian sodas. Flavor-wise they were decent. But $3.50 for a tiny glass that’s filled to the brim with ice with maybe 1/2 a cup of drink seems ridiculous, especially when they were definitely made with soda water and syrup.
Our server were absolutely lovely! She said she was still pretty new but she still gave good recs and was so sweet.
I don’t think we’ll be coming back again due to the prices, but it was worth the try.
