This has been one of my go to spots for great margaritas and food for quite sometime now. They have the best salsa hands down! I do miss the old location of this restaurant, however it is less crammed now. The food here has always been consistently good and I can count on it being a great meal. Their margaritas are to die for, and I enjoy the option of getting a mini margarita as well if I’m not feeling too ambitious for a regular one. The ambiance is inviting and the atmosphere is nice. The service has always been great and everyone is pretty friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were both out to our table in a timely manner. I always recommend this place to friends and family, definitely one of my favorites in Denver!

Katie at the Rio on Wazi was absolutely the best. She was personable, fast, and incredibly attentive without ever feeling rushed. The ambiance was great—lively and welcoming—and the food was outstanding. Honestly, some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Katie really elevated the whole experience and made my visit memorable. Can’t wait to come back!

I made the mistake of clicking the first Mexican restaurant with decent reviews when visiting Denver. Big mistake. Our server only came to our table a total of 3 times when there was almost no one in the restaurant. Took 30 minutes just to get our food that was below mid at best. The rice and beans were garbage. The queso was more peppers and tomato than it was cheese. My enchiladas were the only thing I’d even consider OK. Food was also incredibly overpriced. I paid half what I paid here for authentic 5 star Mexican food in springs a couple weeks ago. This place is rated way higher than it deserves. Steer clear.

I enjoy their margaritas on the rocks, and I appreciate that you can order a “mini margarita” if you don’t want a big one. Salsa is always good. I ordered spinach enchiladas, and the plate was so hot when it arrived that the black beans were bubbling and steaming. (I like hot food). Atmosphere is pleasant. Solid choice for “Tex-Mex” food.

We had high hopes; recommended by a friend as his favorite in Denver. Food was solid but not high-end; we had fajitas for two with steak and chicken. We appreciated that the steak was not overcooked and the chicken was served in larger chunks. Purchased most expensive margaritas and found the fresh citrus juice good but the overall experience not amazing. Salsa was great. Service was excellent. Place was dead on a Friday night. Overall, an “average” Mexican experience.

We had not planned on stopping, but happened to walk past and the food and drinks looked too good to miss.
I was so anxious to dig into my 3 taco lunch special I didn’t even think of taking a picture til the second one!!!
And the classic margarita was REALLY good. I could imagine having a few too many pretty quickly and easily. Would/will go back!!

While the atmosphere and service were good—my food was a major letdown. I tried three out of their six taco flavors: carnitas, mahi, and steak. And more so in the steak and carnitas, the meat was dried out, tasted old, and the salsa was baked on (too much time under a heat lamp?). Everyone else in our group seemed to enjoy their food, and the chips & salsa were a favorite so I’ll give them that. But my $6 tacos were a miss and not worth it. Feb 2024
