Brockton Villa Restaurant is nestled directly across from the world-famous La Jolla Cove, in one of San Diego’s rare historic beach cottages (circa 1894). This cozy family-owned spot offers delicious menus for breakfast, lunch and seasonal dinner, beer, wine and crafted Brocktails with a side of views. Coast Toast (add trademark symbol) is the signature dish, offered day and night, with over a million orders enjoyed! The stunning abalone-inlaid fireplace and eclectic displays make for a memorable and truly local experience -A must do for any visitor.1894: The first beach cottages were constructed along a formerly barren hillside above the La Jolla Cove. Outstanding among them was this house.
Happening brunch & dinner spot revered for its French toast & patio with views of La Jolla Cove.

This establishment is in an historic building giving it a nostalgia feel, it has a great atmosphere with very nice staff who are attentive and professional. The view overlooks the Cove and ocean and is beautiful and relaxing. Be aware there’s stairs get up to reach this resturaunt, I didn’t notice any other way to get up, they have outside patio and inside seating. The restroom was small but clean and I had to wait to use it. Parking can be tricky during the weekend. We got here early on a Sunday and we’re able to find two spots to park with no issues. Other than that the food here is excellent add the stunning view of the cove with lots of seals, swimmers and birds and relaxing atmosphere along with the good staffing makes for a good place to eat and enjoy, I highly recommend this gem when visiting the area.

On vacation for anniversary, this place is amazing! We came for the great view of the cove, and shore line, but the FOOD! The staff was all super friendly and accomodating and the food was fresh and delicious. The food took an extra minute (not long at all) to come out but we did order alot of food and the staff was so nice about it, they brought us a french toast without us even having said anything, do yourselfs a favor YOU MUST TRY the french toast. 11/10 would rate higher if i could.

The views from the patio/deck tables is great. The drinks were good, but the spritz’s I don’t think had actual champagne like it says. Our waitress acted like we were bothering her every time she came to our table; however, the blond waitress was very sweet! The food was delicious, but the lemon couscous should not be $14. Finally, their menu hours are so confusing. We got there around 3:15 pm and they don’t serve lunch, but they don’t serve dinner either even though we got the dinner menu, which said it’s from 3 pm – 8 pm.

I ate a lobster sandwich with chicken soup for dinner, it was delicious and good quality, we had a great time since it was my wife’s birthday that same night.
They are so friendly with us.
I recommend it if you want delicious seafood and a great ocean view.

Weird spice combinations, here. My husband ordered a Caesar Salad, and the dominant flavor was cumin! If you want cumin salad, you would love it, but if you are expecting Caesar flavor, you would be very disappointed. I had the salmon, which was perfectly executed, but it was covered with some odd spice–I think 5 spice powder, maybe? I am not a fan of 5 spices, I wish it were on the description, I wouldn’t have ordered it. The service was also surprising. The waitress asked me for my order, then went round the table, and asked for my order again as if I had never ordered. I thought the location and atmosphere were amazing. I feel like this could be hit or miss. If you love cumin, for example, you would be all over that surprising salad, but if you don’t, it’s a total miss. Same with the Salmon. Maybe more accurate flavor profile descriptions in the menu would help set diner expectations and avoid these issues?

I stopped in for a late breakfast on Labor Day. The setting is lovely, with beautiful ocean views from certain tables that make the visit worthwhile. The food itself was fairly ordinary and on the pricier side, but the atmosphere helps make up for it. My waiter was sweating and he said there was no fee to use credit card but the final bill aftwr paying showed a credit card fees.

We went to this spot because of some good reviews and it’s views of the beach and ocean. But it was a great disappointment. First the lady who sat us down was very rude, stalled us for no reason. We saw our table was empty for a long time before we were seated. Its way too expensive for the food quantity and quality served. The food tasted very stale, was of bad quality and weird taste. Their roasted garlic hummus and pita bread was good, but bread was bit burnt though. We order for buffalo cauliflower cakes, high tide tacos and vegan breakfast tacos. We could taste stale oil, the cauliflower cakes were fried probably too many times, it tasted like it was frozen for a long time before being served. The tacos were a disaster – broken tortillas, too much filling, no taste other than side of salsa, very dry, no flavour. The ambience is okay, though questionable hygiene, too many houseflies and insects all the time, smelly restaurant and not in a good way.

A wonderful restaurant with the added bonus of accepting reservations – we really appreciated how they accommodated our request for a good ocean view. You can see the sea, feel the breeze, and even hear the occasional call of the seabirds and sea lions.
The food was decent overall. We especially enjoyed the mussels which are super fresh with great seasoning, and the bread was perfect for soaking up the broth. The Hawaiian POG juice was also refreshing.
We tried the Coast Toast, which had a rich, layered flavor but was a bit too sweet for our taste – though definitely worth a try for those with a sweet tooth. The only letdowns were the overcooked eggs in the Benedict (they were almost fully cooked) and the crab cake, which was a bit too salty.
Still, it’s a lovely spot for a scenic and relaxed meal by the ocean.

Brockton Villa is an absolute gemn in San Diego. The view alone is worth the visit, with a perfect overlook of the water that makes the whole experience feel relaxed and special. On top of that, the food was amazing. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It’s the kind of place where you finish your meal already thinking about what you want to try next time. If you’re looking for great food paired with one of the best views in the area, this spot delivers. definitely be coming back.
