To start I tried a variety of empanadas including chorizo sausage cheese and onion spinach and chicken. While each one had its own distinct flavor the chicken empanada stood out the most and was by far my favorite. It was perfectly seasoned tender and incredibly juicy with a balance of spices that made it both comforting and exciting. The dough was crisp on the outside yet soft on the inside but it was the chicken filling that truly made it unforgettable.
For the main course I ordered the mini picadita mixta which featured an assortment of meats including picaña, chicken, and sausage served alongside yuca frita. The meats were cooked to perfection extremely juicy rich and packed with flavor. Each bite felt indulgent especially the picaña which was tender and deeply savory. The chicken remained moist and flavorful and the sausage added a bold smoky taste. The yuca frita was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside making it the perfect complement to the meats.
I also tried their signature burger the hamburguesa los gauchos. This burger included cheese ham bacon onions tomatoes lettuce and eggs creating an incredibly satisfying combination. It was juicy rich and full of flavor with each ingredient adding its own texture and taste. The egg and bacon especially elevated the burger making it feel hearty and indulgent.
For dessert I had a pistachio cheesecake that was smooth creamy and not overly sweet allowing the pistachio flavor to stand out. I also tried a dessert similar to a croissant filled with cream and it was amazing. The pastry was light and flaky while the cream filling was rich and balanced making it the perfect ending to the meal.
The service truly elevated the entire experience. My server Kahyra was very very attentive sweet and genuinely caring. She consistently checked in at the right moments made sure everything was perfect and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Her kindness and warmth stood out and she provided a level of service that not many people give anymore. Because of her the atmosphere felt relaxed personal and comforting and it made the meal even more enjoyable.
Overall this Uruguayan Argentinian restaurant delivered an outstanding experience through its flavorful dishes high quality ingredients and well prepared meals. From the chicken empanada to the rich meats satisfying burger and excellent desserts every dish reflected authenticity and care and made the experience memorable.
We stumbled upon Los Gauchitos Restaurant by chance and were genuinely delighted that we did. The food is delicious and clearly inspired by Uruguayan and Argentinian cuisine, with comforting, well-executed flavors that feel both authentic and generous.
Prices are fair and reasonable, especially for the quality and portions, which makes this an easy place to recommend. While the ambience could be elevated a bit, it doesn’t take away from the experience once the food arrives.
What really sets this place apart is the added charm of the small market inside—you can pick up mate, wine, teas, dulce de leche, and other products from Uruguay and Argentina. On top of that, they have a fantastic bakery, which alone is worth the stop.
Highly recommend making the detour to try it out. We’ll absolutely be coming back.
The staff can not do enough to help you make your choice, exampling all the dishes in a friendly manner.
From appetiser to main the flavours flood out of the food.
This place is a hidden gem, if your staying overnight near the airport and want to relax and enjoy some great food, check this place out.
And the sweets from the bakery deserve a special mention they are absolutely incredible. Perfectly balanced, fresh, and full of rich, homemade flavor. You can really taste the tradition and quality in every bite. The desserts alone are worth the visit!
The reason they didn’t get 5 stars. The chorizo and cheese croqueta tasted neither like chorizo or cheese. I was expecting more chorizo with some mozzarella cheese, but instead I got a creamy filling with very few small pieces of chorizo as you can see from the picture. For someone who loves cold cuts, this was a disappointment.
