The biggest miss was service. We ended up pouring our own wine, which simply should not happen in a higher-end steakhouse. It breaks the flow of the experience right away.
The oysters were presented on a raised plate with dry ice, which looks dramatic, but it also creates a practical issue. With the fog, it becomes hard to clearly see the sauce bowls versus the dry ice bowl. That’s a safety concern and something that could easily be refined.
The Yorkshire pudding that came with the roast beef was overdone. Instead of being golden and soft, it arrived hard and dry, which was disappointing alongside an otherwise nicely prepared main.
The food itself was good, but given the pricing and the fact that this space took over from St. Germain’s, I expected smoother service and more attention to detail. Right now, it feels like a restaurant still finding its rhythm.
Good potential, solid flavors, but a few execution and service issues keep it from being truly polished.
As we pay for a + service for a television which can be a nice addition .
I would say the same for the restaurant.
I am pleased to say it was a pleasant time.
To see management the new staff and old staff trying the very best
As there will be bumps in their new procedures in the restaurant.
I’m sure they’ll have it running perfectly in no time
The piano player brought in from Vancouver. Very nice touch management. Superior service as always ! .
I will be back and give this a full review. Love it enjoy give it a try.
The aesthetic is impressive with a rich, yet modernist decor. I was excited to begin with oysters, but they were sold out. I had the lobster & halibut risotto, my husband had the ahi tuna and my daughter had the spicy lobster spaghettini. I was glad to pay $54 for a risotto boasting caviar and lobster but it ended up being heavy on the white fish and a simple-tasting rice with a hint of Parmesan. Simply put, even after asking for salt & pepper, the dish was very unimpressive and did not live up to the description.
Worse though was my husband’s ahi tuni which was incredibly bland and also had to be taken back. My daughter was polite and didn’t complain about her watery pasta dish with tough lobster and yet another bland palette.
They did try to rectify the situation with a free prime rib dinner which is appreciated and I won’t go into how that was also disappointing. I hope they can endeavour to procure a consultant to taste their menu and give sound feedback to all the chefs, they deserve some guidance. At this point however, it is sad to see all the disappointed faces around the restaurant after being ‘lead on’ by the beautiful atmosphere and interesting menu.
Everyone was friendly and attentive. Even the Chef came by our table to check in on our meal.
We will certainly enjoy coming back.
