First of all, they have one of the tastiest house bread that I’ve ever tasted. They’re practically addicting. That’s when you know you’re off to a good start! Add some olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and you’ll be telling the waiter to keep them coming!
Luckily, the rest of what we had was delicious. To my delight, for the Antipasti (appetizer) they have one my surprising finds in Rome, the Prosciutto e Melone – Cantaloupe melon and Prosciutto di Parma. The combination of cantaloupe wrapped with prosciutto ham and paired with soft cheese is as tantalizing as it is unique, and if you haven’t had this Italian delight, you must try it.
For our main course, my friend ordered the Spaghetti Puttanesca, and although I’m not a fan of anchovies, it is a pretty good dish with Kalamata olives, extra virgin Olive Oil, garlic, capers, and arrabbiata sauce.
For myself, I ordered the Pappardelle Sole, a wide flat pasta with Italian Sausage, extra virgin Olive Oil, garlic, artichoke, and tomato sauce. It’s a delicious, savory, and yet not really heavy pasta. It is nicely balanced, with no particular ingredient overpowering the others.
There is a lot of other dishes that we want to try out here, so we’ll definitely have to make a return visit, hopefully with some room for dessert, too.
The pricing was very reasonable considering the astronomical cost of food and leasing of their location. I saw bubbling pizzas and people raving about the lasagna, which my husband also ordered and enjoyed. I got the eggplant parmigiana. The first thing I noticed about this starter dish was that the sauce was entirely homemade. And, unlike so many restaurants these days, the chef did NOT overly salt his sauce or any of our choices. BRAVO. This was a welcomed change. Every bite delicious and the portions so large we had to ask for boxes. My husband and I each had two courses and he had 2 glasses of Chardonnay. The bill before tip was about $100. (before tip)… We felt we really got our money’s worth plus enough food for a whole other meal.
Give them a try. We think you’ll be pleased. too.
We tried the risotto and the pesto gnocchi, and they were absolutely delicious!
Also. The staff and the attention is really nice
We will definitely come back !
