This place is extremely overrated and expensive. There is nothing notable or special about anything we ate or experienced. I expected a literal “fondue bar” too. We were confused on the menu but our server was extremely thorough on explaining on how to order and eat. She was very patient and sweet. 5 stars for service. No wait time either. We each got the 4 course. We expected fancy dippable items. It’s just simple hard bread, raw fruit and veggies. Salad was mediocre- you get a tastier salad at olive garden. The main course is also mediocre. It’s a large pot of broth of choice with items you cook such as meat and veggies. Again, nothing mouth-watering or notable taste. Please be cautious if you are cooking meat, especially chicken. We were warned about the inconsistent size in cuts of meat so though the timer says “2 mins”, it could actually take 3 or 4 minutes. We did like the option for free refills of the sides, same with dippale dessert items. We were glad to have finnaly experienced The Melting Pot but we won’t return. $200+ for 3 for nothing memorable or exceptional and you cook your own food. Food is unseasoned, dessert sides taste like Safeway bought dessert trays. “Hype” did not meet our expectations. I would recommend this place for like a first date. I think it’d be fun to interact, dip and cook items while getting to know someone. If you want your taste buds to explode and worth the money (1/2 the cost), go to Thai Bloom instead
⚠️ Regarding the bathroom: The bathroom is far away and outside the restaurant in a secluded sketchy hall. Have your phone handy with someone to be ready to answer or go with someone just to be safe. Anyone from the outside could easily access that secluded area. You could scream and no one would hear you FYI. Anything could happen down there.

The Melting Pot in Portland, Oregon is such a fun, worth it experience! The restaurant is underground with a beautiful entrance, very spacious and lots of seating. We had the 4 course meal at $64 per person, it is on the spendy side plus drinks. Pictured is the Strawberry Sensation adult beverage which hands down is a 10/10, Strawberry salad with lemon poppyseed dressing, house salad with peppercorn ranch, cheddar cheese fondue served with a bread, vegetable and apple board and the feast entree that came with Filet Mignon, pacific white tailed shrimp, teriyaki marinated steak, Atlantic salmon and chicken breast. Annnnnd the dessert board was full of yummy delicious sweets from chocolate dusted marshmallows, rice krispies, strawberries, bananas, waffles baked in maple syrup (under bananas), blondies and brownies all were so yummy. All the food was absolutely mouth watering, savoryness, all the food does come in smaller portions but it is very filling. You do get to pick your choice of the cheese fondue, the broth which the meats cooked in and the chocolate fondue. It does take a longer time as for the main entree you cook your own, which was fun to do! Highly recommend ✨️10/10✨️ for the experience and the food!!

Overall, it was a fun experience. The meat was average, but the selection of nonalcoholic drinks was very good, which is not something you see at many establishments. Different types of meats and seafood require different cooking times, and there’s a QR code that provides a food timer. Unfortunately, I found that my cell phone had no service there, at least for Verizon users. I recommend using a garage for parking, as the area has a two-hour maximum limit on street parking. This place would be great for bringing younger kids.

1st time going and definitely will be going back! Recommend everyone trying atleast once. Great service, super friendly and helpful.The food was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the preparation. Portions were generous and everything tasted homemade and high quality. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time and I can’t wait to come back!

Well have you heard the term “A hole in the wall” well this is a “hole in the ground” restaurant “a true find”…If you are or going to be in the Portland Oregon area this is a must visit restaurant. I will say this was my first time at a hotpot restaurant and I was very concerned about how well done my food would get with only being cooked under boiling water. To my astonishment my meats were cooked to perfection and I am a ” extremely well done” type. I have to say it’s beyond excellent, our server was so nice and attentive. The experience was exactly that, an experience. From the cheese, to the meats to the chocolate it’s all awesome. We will definitely be back as this was by far my best experience in Portland. I ranked atmosphere as 4 due to the lack of lighting.

Our sever Jaime was great. A couple of pain points though that do not have anything to do with him. We had about five different people ask if we needed to go boxes all within the span of 1 minute or so it was a little obnoxious. We also were asked by a lady who didn’t introduce herself (I’m assuming the manager) right before the main course if everything was tasting ok and someone at the table innocently said we haven’t tasted the “main course” yet and the manager said sarcasticly “oh you haven’t tasted anything yet today?” In a sort of snotty way.
The atmosphere was lacking for a place that charges that much for a relatively small meal, the atmosphere should be way better. You walk in at the host stand (no decor) and there is some tacky crooked what appears to be a sheet that’s pinned up behind the host stand and that represents St Jude (great organization by the way) but it just looks cheap and unprofessional. The rest of the atmosphere was pretty average / boring at best.
The price compared to the quality of food/quantity isn’t worth it. We had a party of 5 and spent about $400 after tip and that was almost all food (only 3 drinks) and honestly before dessert was served I was still hungry. The petite steak was too tough of a cut for that price and it was also bland as was the shrimp. There was no cohesion in the sauces for the petite steak imo. The teriyaki steak was a better cut and went well with the teriyaki sauce.
I also didn’t enjoy the fact that I had to use my phone (in a place with no cell service due to being underground, there is wifi) for a timer. They should invest in timers at the table or something like that to elevate the experience and make it easier for the older folks.

Been going here for years and this is the first time we were disappointed in the food and service. Our salads didn’t have all the toppings they were supposed to (California Salads), they served the bread with the fresh cut and wet veggies on a really small serving board causing some of the bread to get soggy (bread use to come in a bowl), the waitress seemed pre-occupied and in hurry and we were an inconvenience to her, the table wasn’t cleared between courses, it took forever to get the extra sauces (we asked for extra when we ordered), and apparently there isn’t a dress code anymore because people were there in sweats and slippers (I’m talking people of Walmart) I would understand the slow service if they were busy, but it was 7pm on a Wednesday night and there wasnt a lot of people. We’ve been when its packed and received better service and food quality.

I hate to say it bluntly but we had an honestly horrible experience. Hostess said it would be a 2 hour long experience, which we were looking forward to and were ready to relax. Random flickering lights in old colored wine bottles made the atmosphere feel dated and unkempt. Sat at 6:25 to a dirty table. Server gave us water and didn’t show up for >10 minutes. Alerted the host and they took our order instead of the server. Didn’t see the server for another 10 minutes. Arrived with food and scurried off while in the middle of me asking to order a drink. Ordered it from the bartender. At this point I knew that I was sitting at table 23. Food portions were hilariously small. Had a 4 course dinner and I’m still hungry. “Entrees” contained about 7oz. of meat. $6 summer sausage portion was two thin 2″ diameter sausages cut into 8 pieces (picture posted of this in review). I could order double meat at Subway and get far more meat for less. Ordered a Coors Light, waitress never picked it up. Saw it at the well on the bar and asked the bartender if I could just run it for her and confirmed it was mine for table 23. Got to the table warm and it tasted flat. I general manage a bar and drink Coors every day. This one was gross. Dinner for 2 = $185 with drinks. On the vast amount of places you can eat for that price in Portland, The Melting Pot is an absolute scam. I feel dumb for trying it honestly. Literally go to Fogo Dr Chao next door. NEVER again. Terrible service, outdated in a bad way atmosphere, small portions, not worth its price range.
