Delicious Trattoria Sergio Gozzi ❤️‍

In tourist cities, it’s not easy to find truly authentic places loved by locals. Trattoria Sergio Gozzi turned out to be exactly that kind of gem. There was a line at the entrance, and we waited around 40 minutes, totally worth it

What we ordered: a couple of pasta dishes and the famous Florentine steak.
Both pastas were excellent: the kids’ penne with ragù was a simple and confident Italian take on a “navy pasta”-style dish. The highlight was the tortelli with truffle pesto and mushrooms

Then came the star: the Florentine steak. As tradition demands, they brought out the raw cut first and then cooked it to a perfect medium rare – absolutely incredible.
For dessert, we had the classic Tuscan combo: Cantucci with Vin Santo.

The final confirmation of quality came with the limoncello: smooth, no harsh alcohol taste, not overly sweet

Prices are reasonable, and the price-to-quality ratio is outstanding.

Location: Piazza di San Lorenzo, 8R
Note: they’re open only from 12 to 15.

Highly recommend!

Tasty authentic local food served to locals, but tourists made very welcome too. Hearty pastas, enormous steaks, and some interesting desserts I’d had nowhere else. Great little find.

The reputation precedes them. As many already know, this place always starts gathering a line just before opening at 12pm. Even during the 3 hours they are open, a line continues to gather outside the door. The food is just that good. Big depth of flavour, fresh pasta, and wide variety of authentic Tuscan dishes.

The service is impeccably fast, efficient, and friendly. The waitors are happy to help explain what the dishes are so you find something you will like.

We orderes the tortellini, white beans side dishes, and meat, after which we were still hungry and ordered penne bolognese. Everything was incredibly tasty – no notes. Great quality ingredients yet so simple.

Absolutely delicious! Was walking from the train station towards our hotel and saw a small lineup of people in front of an unassuming sign. We stopped and googled the spot and read the reviews. We decided to stop and wait the 10 minutes to open. So happy that we waited. The food was delish. They don’t take reservations and only open for lunch, so come early. Totally worth it. Not fancy. Simple delicious food and full of character. Both from the servers and the decor. We loved it so much that we came the next day as well but had to wait 45 minutes.

The food rating is the average of me and my teenager. I liked my spaghetti and the tomato sauce was yummy and the chicken liver crotini was fine. My Cali girl didn’t like the ragu and didn’t enjoy how al dente her penne was. She didn’t care for the thick spaghetti either so she left there hungry. I went on a Saturday and was the first in line but I could have just gone at noon and still gotten in with the first crowd. It did get super crowded shortly after. If you are traveling with American kids used to American style pasta, maybe skip and go with your traditional Italian dish appreciating friends…lol

The food was just ok. Honestly, the peposo was stringy and very salty. I cannot believe so many people raved about it on line. The ravioli and steak were ok. Really anted to like this place, but I believe there are WAY better restaurants in Florence. Don’t waste your limited meals.

This is a genuine, no-frills trattoria serving simple and delicious Florentine dishes. Prices are very affordable, especially given the quality and the central location. The handwritten, compact menu focuses on traditional specialties and seasonal ingredients, which shows authenticity and consistent quality (and a good sign that it’s not a tourist trap!)

They’ve been in business for over a century, long before Florence became overwhelmed with tourists. As it’s popular with locals, it can get really busy, but I would gladly return to dine at this humble spot.

We loved everything about this place! We thought that the portions would be really small but they were actually a great size! They dont take reservations but they are so efficient and got us a table really quickly! The pasta dishes were delicious and the meat as well! Definitely a great spot to try out!

Wonderful find while wandering through Florence. We figured it had to be good if they had a line of people down the street waiting for it to open. We were not wrong on our assumption. We had some wonderful ravioli, mostachili. My son ordered the largest steak I have seen and it was amazing! It is only served rare, they bring out the steak so you can see the marbling. We enjoyed the Chianti great food and atmosphere. Definatly stop if you are in the area. Highly recommend!!!

Lunch only, best trattoria in Firenze.

My wife and I first came here from a recommendation in 2012 and had a memorable meal. We have returned to Florence just to let our kids taste this restaurants Florentine steak and it did not disappoint.

The perfectly cooked steak with strong charring is hard to compare to other restaurants. Our steak was 1.1kg and fed 3 of us with a side of fries for the kids.

Tearattoria Sergio Gozzi has been operating since 1915 and the restaurant charm is the simplicity and authenticity of Tuscany.

Service charge is €2/person and we’ll worth it
