This visit brought back memories. 40 years ago and a pitcher of margaritas WOAH BABY ‼️
I’ve softened and mellowed out. The food and atmosphere is like crossing the border. My applause for knowing some things never change. And I am so glad.

She hasn’t run it out of business yet but it can’t be long now. 18% service charge and 4$ water. Good thing we all love her brothers food because every change she has made sucks. The only surprise about there being plenty of empty tables on a Fri night was they had to seat the 3 tables the did fill on top of each other elbow to elbow in the corner. I won’t be sad when I read it’s going out of business I’ll feel relieved because Conejito will finally be able to rest.

No large groups what empty restaurant makes that a policy.

Forced to sit in bar area away from the somewhat a little more private tables. Forced to pay a high tip for horrible service. They don’t care at all about the customer. I spent a lot of money and felt forced out when we didn’t even finish our drinks yet. This place went downhill big time after the owner died. I have been going for 25 years and witnessed the change. Too much disappointing things to list. Read the bad reviews, they are true!!
I hope they make dramatic changes on how they treat customers or just go out of business. I had enough and will not return.

I really wanted to like this place because I had heard from friends that it was a good, affordable spot. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to that. We ordered pickup and were surprised to see extra charges — an additional $0.25 per item and $6 for cheese on the tacos — that weren’t clearly listed on the menu. That felt frustrating and unexpected. On top of that, the food quality was disappointing; the tacos in particular were not good at all. I hope they improve the pricing transparency and overall quality.

Fast and Cheap! But Good?

Been here several times in the past. We came this time out of necessity. It was a monday and our original restaurant was closed (our bad), so with being in rush we knew the Conejitos would be quick. And it was. But as usual, not all that good.

On this particular night, they were not taking credit cards. Sign was on the door, but this seems to be a consistent issue. They sat us a small “wobbly” table in the bar area. (We fixed the wobble with a bunch of napkins, while the servers watched). The music was loud. The room is bit old and tired looking.

Server got to us right away. We ordered a couple of regular margaritas. You don’t get waters (unless you pay). They were $4 and not bad. We ordered guacamole right away. It was definately not fresh. Looked like and had the texture of baby food, over processed.

Ordered a plate of “Chopped Meat” tacos and a Combo Enchilada plate. The food came out in a matter of minutes. It was okay, a step up from Taco Bell (serving alcohol). The beans and rice were good.

They automatically add an 18% gratuity to the bill. We were in/out in less than 30 minutes, which was the main point of coming.

Loved this place since the 80’s. They expanded with a new dining room. Food is pretty much the same. In other words, great. I love that it hasn’t changed the decor, and it feels nostalgic. To someone new, it might seem dated. I like it that way.

Quaint, bare bones mexican restaurant in an old German pub. Cheap, good food for the price served on paper plates. Margaritas poured from a jug (they mix themselves). Basically a dive bar. Would go back. Cash only, atm on site

Will not miss this landmark when in town. Parked right on front and the beer was ice cold and the tostada plate outstanding. The atmosphere is what I really notice. Been there forever and has never missed the mark. Prices pretty reasonable.

Mexican food and it’s really good. The Mexican plate lunch is amazing. It’s not expensive. Most things come on paper plates and water is not free .
There is nothing bad on the menu!!
The biscuit head club visits often!

Absolutely Disappointed Not the Same Place Anymore! I have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years, and I never thought I’d be writing a review like this. The experience lately has been unbelievably frustrating and honestly disrespectful.

My husband and I went in, and despite there being two completely open tables and an entire side of the restaurant empty, they tried to seat us squeezed in between other people. Not just near them right in front of strangers, with my husband placed across from someone else as well. It made absolutely no sense and was extremely uncomfortable and I refused to sit with a stranger!

It gets worse. The hostess then walked over to a man at the bar who was in the middle of eating a taco and told him to scoot over to make space. Who does that? That is beyond rude to both the customer already eating and to us.

This is now the second time this exact situation has happened. It’s not a fluke it’s clearly how they’re choosing to operate. After 30 years of loyalty, being treated like this is unreal. There was no reason to pack people together when space was clearly available.

The lack of consideration, basic hospitality, and customer comfort is shocking. This place used to feel welcoming. Now it feels chaotic and inconsiderate.

Sadly, this may be the end of a 30-year tradition for us. No meal is worth feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
