Excellent customer service, our every need was met, the server checked on us continuously and even brought over a few things without being asked.
Must try if you’re in Gardena
TL;DR version …
We came here by accident (our 4 legged fur baby passed at 20 years old and there is a pet cremation across the street). I originally was going to just ask to use the facilities, but then I saw them menu when I entered… The happy hour appetizers and food looked pretty good and menu smacked of authentic Italian food.
My wife and daughter were with me and we decided to try it out…. We were NOT disappointed. I ordered the GUAZZETTO DI PESCE, absolutely fabulous, made with mussels, clams, shrimp, octopus, and Swiss in a wonderfully savory garlic and white wine sauce with toasted garlic bread. My wife got the SCALOPPINA chicken cutlets with spaghetti, and my daughter loved the truly authentic homemade TORTELLI VERDI (ravioli).
Since we were there during happy hour, we had two glasses of their house wine–one red, one white. We also got the happy hour caprese salad, happy hour 4 piece ARACINI (fried rice balls with peas, carrots, zucchini, saffron, breadcrumbs & mozzarella cheese served with a warm dish of pomodoro sauce.
For dessert, we tried the tiramisu, the chocolate cannoli, and a house cake that will give you a diabetic coma ( share that one with someone or take half home, it’s super sweet, but VERY good!!)
This is a family owned and it shows with the level of customer service. Our server waited on us hand and foot — we need to dilute the apple juice, she brought us the extra glass and water; I made the comment I wished I had had more toasted garlic bread with my fish, 2 minutes later she brought me another small dish of toasted bread; she checked on us about every 7-8 minutes after our food came out and 4-6 minutes between appetizers and drinks. Taking home leftovers? No problem–takeout dishes and the bag to put them in, which she packaged up for us in the bag after we put our food in the takeout containers. Drinks to go? Sure no problem, she put our water & juices in to go cups (no alcohol, this ain’t Vegas, lol.)
Definitely should be on your list of places to eat if you’re in the LA South Bay or visiting the LA area in the Torrance/Gardena/Hawthorne area.
The food was delicious and reminiscent of being in Italy. We had pizza, different pastas, and dessert.
Irene, our server, was perfect. She had great recommendations for us, was very friendly, and had perfect timing with the whole experience.
Thank you!
We ordered the arancini balls and they were okay. But the pizzas were divine!
The Mimmo pizza has fresh homemade bursts on it and at the price point is perfect.
The G8 has a slice of everything and is a great sampler for the next time you come back and know which other pizza you want! The complimentary table bread is tasty with the olive oil.
The staff were super friendly and humorous, wine was reasonably priced, drinkable and this was a great little hidden gem for the area! Highly recommend.
