Excellent ambiance with a stunning view of the Matterhorn, right on blue run number 6 from Sunnega to Zermatt. Absolutely have to book in advance, if you don’t find availability online, make sure you call them at 8:30am on the day and they may be able to accommodate you outside on the terrace. We tried online – everything was booked – and then called at 9:30am still managing to secure an indoor table. Recommended for your Zermatt bucket list

We had a great day of skiing and eating. We got the burger, goat ravioli and risotto. All were delicious, I would rate them in order listed. Burger was so good. The sauce on it is amazing! The Apple fritters were delicious! Eating out on the patio with the views and drink in hand was awesome!

Our experience at Chez Vrony was truly an 11 out of 10. The location is absolutely magical, with the most breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. We went to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make it special. They were so kind and accommodating—letting our group of four sit at the very front of the patio (a spot that usually only seats two). At the end of lunch, they even surprised my mom with a birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made her day unforgettable. I am so grateful to them for creating such a wonderful memory.
The food was excellent—the salads were fresh, flavorful, and filling, and the cocktails were delicious and refreshing after the hike down. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as the views looked!
The hike itself was very manageable on the way down, but if you’re going with seniors, I’d recommend bringing hiking sticks, as the trek back up can be a bit tough. We had an 11:30 reservation, so the hike down was comfortable, but heading back up later in the day got hot—definitely bring sunscreen.
Between the views, the food, and the warm, thoughtful service, Chez Vrony is absolutely worth the effort to get there. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Zermatt—it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

As soon as we booked a trip to Zermatt I knew I wanted to visit Chez Vrony since it’s on every Zermatt list I cam across. The problem was I could never get a reservation since we booked our trip a month out from departure. i literally would check every single day and even emailed but no luck.
We were skiing down Sunnega yesterday and saw the signs for it so I told my husband, let’s go and see if we can do walk in. We got there around 11:15 am and they open at 11:30 am so we were the first in line. Thankfully there was no problem since there’s so much seating there.
We were initially just going to get drinks, take in the view, and then leave but then table beside us said the burger was amazing. We ordered it and he wasn’t lying, it was incredible (coming from North America, we typically would not have ordered a burger but since it was so highly recommended, we had to give it a shot).
The service was also amazing. They run a very tight ship there, there wasn’t a lot of waiting and everything was very efficient. We were there for probably 45 minutes and even by the end there was still tons of seating left.
As for the view and ambiance, it really doesn’t get any better than Chez Vrony. It’s on the pricey side but the experience is truly worth it.
If you take one thing from this review, let it be this: don’t get discouraged if you can’t get a reservation, just show up and you’ll most likely get a table (especially if it’s right when they open).

What an incredible experience and unbelievable food. From the view of the Matterhorn, to Chef Vrony coming to say hello to us herself. What a memorable time. I had the burger which is very unique. Not a typical burger, but it was packed with flavor. The Drinks were perfect, and we started with some appetizers that were on par. Finished with the chocolate trio desserts and snowboarded backdown to Zermatt. So lucky to have had this few hours of my life. All love from America ❤️. Please come to my resturant if you’re ever in the USA so I have the privilege of serving you as you did for me. ( PIE.ZAA Pizza )

Had their signature rosti w bacon bits & egg, and beef burger. Both nice & coupled with Amazing Matterhorn view. But almost 44degree steep hike up & down towards the eatery, not easy for those who do not exercise regularly as high attitude too. Able to reserve via their email on website to get their outdoor bench seats with the best views.

Absolutely a once in a lifetime experience for a flatlander from canada! The food was delicious, and the view unmatched. The best experience from our Switzerland trip by far. If you decide to splurge on any food or dining experience, while in the country or zermatt… highly recommend.

Great location with AMAZING views and really great food as well. It takes a little adventure to get there but definitely worth it. They provide blankets and everything you may need as well. Thank you very much and looking forward to going back.

There is not a more beautiful restaurant – the setting is unreal, and the food is delicious. Reservations are a must and if you visit in winter and are not skiing, make sure to wear sturdy hiking/snow boots as the path can be icy.
