Reviews
I hope management reads my review and takes it in consideration of what can improve.
I have always considered Woodyard to be an underrated BBQ place in KC.
I enjoy their Carolina style pulled pork sandwiches with fries and their delicious cornbread muffins.
I’m glad Woodyard finally started giving customers numbers when their food is ready instead of asking customers for their names. That was a modest improvement.
Im disappointed that Woodyard no longer offers fountain drinks for dining in but instead provides overpriced, canned pop. I hope this is only temporary otherwise I will be stopping at Quiktrip before I eat here going forward for drinks.
My biggest criticism and probably why Woodyard doesn’t have as much success as the local KC BBQ chains is the outdated parking. I wish Woodyard could transfer to a larger location for customers. The “parking lot” behind the restaurant is small and really difficult to find a parking spot especially considering I arrived during slow, lunch hours. I guarantee if Woodyard had better parking and had a larger dining space, they would bring in way more customers and receive some accolades with locals.
The ambiance and the staff are great. Bad flys outside, but not sure if there is much that can be done about that? It’s next to a busy street, so it’s can be loud.
We had almost all the meat and side options. It was fine. Wasn’t bad at all, but I’m shocked at all the recommendations. Not sorry to have tried it.
The fries were delicious. Then I got the Triple P. It was mid. Lacked bbq flavor imo but, I finished it. Problem with the sandwich is that the pulled pork was so wet (do you crock pot cook it???) That my bottom bun was soggy and nasty. This place has slowly been going down hill- it’s sad to see.
I’ll stop on a positive note, I have historically likes their chili and look forward to trying it again this fall.
Vibes inside were immaculate, it was off-peak time so we had the joint to ourselves but we will swing back through this patio season to hydrate with some sudz outback.
Ordered a BBQ plate with 2 meats. Chose brisket, sausage, and added a rib. The brisket was sliced thin and a bit fatty and greasy for my taste. Not bad however. The sausage was great! Flavorful and cooked perfectly. A little disappointed with the add a rib option. Thought I would get a pork spare rib, but got 2 small baby back ribs instead. The cheesy bowtie pasta side was excellent. Overall pretty good. Wouldn’t rule out another visit, trying some other items.
No complaints!
