We had such a great experience in the cozy camper igloo! The food and service is always excellent at Gilroy’s and this new igloo experience for the winter was so much fun for our group. Josiah took great care of us and made sure it was the right temperature in the igloo. The special seasonal cocktails were delicious. Our group tried all the desserts and wow–can’t even pick my favorite!! Don’t skip that part! Gilroys took the igloo idea and then went above and beyond with great creativity. We loved it!

First time at Gilroy’s. We enjoyed the quiet, dark atmosphere on a Wednesday evening. Our server was new, but she was great. The cheese curd appetizer was very good. Our group was happy with their food, which ranged from a burger, Hawaiian Sliders, Fish and Chips, to a large fried chicken platter meal. I’m looking forward to our next stop to try something else from the menu.

We had the absolute best experience at Gilroy’s! We walked in there blindly after the place we planned to go was closed.
They immediately accommodated our large group (over 10). My husband and I got married in a private ceremony that afternoon, and we were gathering with some friends to celebrate. When they heard why we were there, they gave us complimentary apps for the table. After about 30 minutes, we outgrew the table they had put us at, and there wasn’t space to add tables. —So they cleaned off an entire section of tables, and let us move the whole party over so we could stay all together. Amazing! Staff was attentive all evening, and served us with a smile. Every dish that we got was delicious and cooked excellently. The table was crazy about the cheese curds! The spinach artichoke dip was some of the best I’ve ever had.
We could not have asked for, or even imagined such a wonderful experience.
We will definitely be returning!

Going to be honest… Gilroy’s wasn’t on my radar the particular night we visited last… we had our sights on another restaurant when our plans didn’t work out, and we “settled” with Gilroy’s…
Not my first visit to Gilroy’s.. mater if fact probably been over a year… and I honesty I don’t remember being like blown away on that particular visit… and was like craving a return…
But after my family’s last visit.. Wow! I did Ribeye dinner med-rare, my wife had fish & chips, daughter did Salmon, and a cheese curd appetizer… my meal was superb! My wife and daughter loved their meals also! Service was a little slow… but I think our waitress had a large group in the back, whilst we were in the bar area… other than that.. we were sooo pleased! Gilroy’s is underrated… I hope if you read this you also have a great time and experience as my family and I did!

Our family of 5 had such a great experience at Gilroy’s for a Saturday morning brunch. Our server Dominic was the best! The food…oh buddy! I would most certainly recommend the loaded mashed potatoes, corn flake French toast, cinnamon roll bread pudding, and the biscuits and gravy. All of the portions were solid and you can just keep ordering so much! They let you box whatever you don’t eat. Highly recommended for the cleanliness, service and atmosphere. Good music as well!

We rolled in 30 deep after 7pm. Our hostess and the staff nailed the service. Every family said their food was so good. I had the Wertzburger warrior and it was amazing. Can’t forget the pillows from heaven, or cheese curds as it was listed on the menu. A+ experience

Cheese curds are in my top 3 for sure, and the portion was huge. Burger was cooked as ordered. I do wish the pepper jam it came with was as a side like it was last time I ordered it, but that was years ago. Not because it was too spicy, but because the cheese curds are good dipped in it, too. My side of coleslaw, a normally overlooked side by many restuarants, was great. Creamy, and not too sweet or salty one way or the other, and actually seemed like it had been made a few days in advance, LIKE COLESLAW SHOULD BE!

We go to Gilroy’s frequently. Great food and a good atmosphere. We are never disappointed. They even have cute Christmas decor up right now. Definitely a great choice for Des Moines area casual dining.
