The atmosphere feels like a proper pub. There is brick and wood and dark panels. All of the tap handles are fun to see.
There is some outdoor seating. The restaurant is set up in an L shape, so you don’t feel surrounded by people. It is cozy.
We set at the bar.
I went with the Andrechs’ Doppelbock. It was rich and full flavored. I did not need more than one.
I had a taste of all three doppelbocks on tap. There was no bad choice.
The Lentil Soup will bring me back.
The clams were everything you could want.
I will be back.
Also special shout out to John who did an amazing job serving us with beer and happiness. He’s professional and introduced us to Underberg. Very nice place and will come back again! Thank you John!
The pretzel came with mustard, cheese, and schmaltz dips. I’d never had a pretzel come with schmaltz (chicken fat) before, and it was a delightful surprise how delicious it was.
The clams were cooked with a buttery white wine, garlic, and lightly sliced broth, which was again delightful.
The wursts came on a bed of warm sauerkraut.
10/10 experience, great ambiance, will definitely come back again in the future.
I did not tip and will not be back, i could probably make what I had for much cheaper at home but I got what I wanted and it was decent for what it was, overpriced a bit (27$)
Next time I’ll go to Vancouver, to Gustav’s this place seems to be only for being obnoxious and cosplaying German culture with lots of beer ♀️ if that’s what you’re looking for have at it. I’ve heard Europe is full of rude service so maybe it’s too authentic for me
Strudel is slightly Americanized and a touch too sweet.
Service was outstanding.
Food was unbelievably well done.
Probably the best stop on a trip of 2 weeks in Oregon.
