Always great food and great atmosphere here. Every visit to here in recent memory has been absolutely outstanding and tonight stood out among the rest. I’m not sure how they made a crispy chicken sandwich so good, but I’ll take it! The flatbreads are also very good.

2/8/26: This visit was less than ideal. Freezing inside despite being below zero wind chills outside! Seriously? Bad enough the bathrooms are always freezing with no hot water. This carried over to the food, as it wasn’t quite right. We won’t be returning. One of us got sick shortly thereafter, food poisoning. Never again.

We went Saturday and Sunday as they have a variety of food for all. We were visiting the area. Staying at the local hotel for a wedding. We stoped in Saturday for drinks and something light. Then Sunday for dinner.
The staff is very attentive. Both days the manager came over to make sure all was well. I had a pear martini both days. The pretzel appetizer, the Mediterranean board. We ordered chicken tacos. Pizza. Hot wings. Potato soup. Both days everything was great.
I highly recommend.
I’m a vegetarian and my only wish is that they made their own specialty veggie burger without using the “impossible” meat. That stuff is gross.

Really enjoyed my time here! The vibe is spot-on — casual, friendly, and fun. The food was really good, and the drinks hit the mark. Staff was attentive and got everything out fast, even with the place buzzing a bit. It’s the kind of place where you can just chill with friends, grab a bite, and enjoy some drinks without feeling rushed. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the mood for a relaxed dinner and a good hangout. Totally recommend it if you want a place that’s easygoing, tasty, and welcoming.

Fun place! We popped in for the first time as we are visitors in the area. Food was pretty good! I had the ribs and they were mouthwatering….Very tender. There are a lot of options on the menu and I look forward to going back sometime to try another dish. Although it will be hard to pass up on ordering the ribs again!

As this is a bar, albeit a high-end bar, it is a bit loud. However, the service was great and the food was quite good so I was willing to overlook the noise level. We enjoyed our evening.

Tommy’s Tavern in Freehold is one of those places that just works.

The menu is classic American with something for everyone—burgers, pizzas, hearty salads, and even the fun curveball of sushi. It’s a spot where you can bring the whole family, meet a date, or catch a game with friends over beers. If cocktails are more your thing, their martinis make for the perfect gossip companion.

Yes, it’s loud and always packed—but that’s part of its charm. Tommy’s is versatile, consistent, and lively, which is why it never seems to falter. It’s not fine dining, but it delivers exactly what you expect every time, and that reliability is worth four stars.

My kids love going for brunch at Tommy’s for the French toast. We were on our way when we noticed the time. We were not going to make it by 3. So we called and Maya answered the phone and suggested we order it as take our and when we get there we can eat it at the table while my husband and I order and eat our food as well. It was a great idea and worked out perfectly. Everyone was happy. Food was excellent. Thank you Maya!

Great until they weren’t anymore. If you’re looking for atmosphere, a place to hang out and have drinks with a friend, and maybe buy some overpriced, poorly prepared food – this place is for you. Atmosphere, absolutely, I do genuinely enjoy Tommy’s for that. After that downhill. We’ve been going to Tommy’s since they opened in Freehold. Their food was originally great, but on multiple visits, the food is hit or miss. Here’s a few things to note about Tommy’s:

– Again, the place is rocking, and if you want to be where people are, you can’t go wrong.
– Wait times – horrendous, they get you seated promptly but be prepared to wait. We’ve waited 45m to an hour now multiple times for our food to arrive.
– inconsistent food preparation – last visit great example (pic provided) – I ordered the Swiss burger. First, that pic is not of me cutting the burger in half, that pic is how the kitchen checked the meat, and decided it made sense to serve it as 2 halves in the bun. … and it was burnt 😛

We’re done with Tommy’s – enjoyed it while we could. But this last visit just confirmed the last few visits, it’s just not worth it anymore. Burger 25 is so much better, and with the beer garden in Brick next door, it’s got the best of both worlds. Woody’s in Farmingdale is also a great local joint that you can always count on, good food, great atmosphere and reasonable wait for service (actually they are quick).

Sorry Tommy’s – I’m bummed to take you off the list… I highly doubt my review will hurt your success. I’ll just have to take my party of 7 somewhere else 😉

Food was outstanding. Our party of 4 was very happy with their steaks. I had French onion soup, cheese curds and truffle fries. It was received in a timely manner. all food was hot and delicious. staff were courteous, and tended very well to us. The atmosphere was very dark, though, and had a hard time reading the menus. It was extraordinarily loud, which I expect and is not a bad experience, just a warning to those sensitive to loud places. overall a great place

Even though their lot was packed, there was ample seating. Our server Ilona (Alona?) was knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We ordered the Kung Pow dumplings and they were tasty. The manager came over to check on us at the perfect timing. Our dumplings could use some more heat, so he brought us some extra chili sauce. That made the dumplings just right.
My main was the blackened shrimp wrap. It was full of shrimp and flavor. It was just the right size and I would definitely recommend.

They really do a tremendous job at Tommy’s Tavern and Tap in Freehold, New Jersey. For starters, from open to close they are packed and when I mean packed I mean packed! You should see the parking lot for Heaven’s sakes! Fortunately, they are on the money and one way or the other they have a seat available for their customers. Once you step inside, you can see why they are perpetually packed, the music is good, the service is excellent, the food is great and the customers are interesting people. I can’t emphasize enough that I don’t just give out a five star review. My reviews are given in context meaning I compare you to the next guy so to speak but I can’t emphasize enough that they are fair and they are accurate. I would also be remiss if I did not mention that the Freehold locals which, is where this particular “Tommy’s” is placed are frankly picky about where they eat and who they do business with. That being said, the Freehold locals obviously love the place. So, in closing what are you waiting for stop in and stop by and say to Dana and Devin my favorite bartenders there while you are at it.
