Lotus of Siam offers Northern Thai cuisine from James Beard Award winning chef Saipin Chutima. Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.
Northern Thai specialties plated in a polished venue that has chic decor & a full bar.

This time we ordered the green curry with chicken, garlic prawns, Lotus Yum salad, a side of sticky rice, and a couple of mocktails. The green curry was rich, creamy, and well-balanced with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and soaked up all that flavorful curry perfectly.
The garlic prawns were a standout. They were cooked beautifully, and the skin was crispy and completely edible — packed with flavor. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal.
The Lotus Yum salad added a fresh, bright contrast to the richer dishes. Paired with sticky rice, everything came together nicely. The mocktails were also delicious and refreshing, a great complement to the meal.
Overall, it’s consistently a strong Thai dining experience. Great flavors, solid portions, and always a safe bet when you’re craving quality Thai cuisine.
We ordered stuffed chicken wings (on the menu), but were told they haven’t had them for two years as they are working on recreating recipe. Maybe take them off the menu then as I heard the table next us try to order them, too.
My son ordered the Dad Dwaw. It was burnt and inedible. We sent it back.
My wife had crab fried rice w/ crispy duck. It was fine. The duck was very good, but the rice was dry and lacked flavor. I had the Khai Soi with seafood. I enjoyed it.
Chicken Satay is delicious even without the peanut sauce, and the little cucumber salad on the side is fresh and perfect.
Panang chicken curry (mild spice level) is creamy, perfectly sweet, and absolutely bursting with authentic Thai flavor! Rice is charged separately, so you might have some extra panang curry sauce left over.
Thai fried rice was ordered to go and it was just as good as everything else
The Royal Ricky is a fantastic non-alcoholic drink if you want something refreshing.
This is now my go to spot whenever I’m in Vegas craving Thai. Highly recommend!
larb – spectacular
garlic prawn – fried prawn, along with the crispy fried shell. such a clever dish. and the shell was absolutely divine. the prawn itself was a tad tough but it’s to be expected given the hard fry. I wonder if there’s a way to fry just the prawn shelll for longer.
soft shell crab – good, and the green peppercorn was a herbaceous punch.
panang curry and tom yum – great renditions
1) Price vs. portion and taste
The food was expensive for what we received. We spent about $110 for lunch and ordered one Thai tea, satay, soup, rice, and two entrées. I understand this is Las Vegas, but even so, the pricing felt excessive for the portion sizes and overall quality.
2) Food quality (no “wow” factor)
The food was just okay. It was acceptable, but there was nothing memorable or impressive about it. We were hoping to be wowed, but that never happened. We have tried other Thai restaurants in Las Vegas that were significantly better—and more affordable. I would not recommend ordering Kha Nom Jeen Nam Ngyow. Although it is advertised as a signature dish, it made me feel sick for the entire afternoon.
3) Service experience
Service was average. The main server was somewhat pushy, while the assistant was much more attentive and pleasant. I honestly wished I could tip the assistant instead. The server did not ask about the taste of the food and, aside from taking our order and bringing the check, spent most of her time attending to other tables.
I don’t understand why this restaurant has such a high rating on Google. I will not be returning, especially with so many excellent Thai restaurants in Las Vegas. The quality of the food simply does not justify the price.
I had heard their Thai Khao with whole fried softshell crab was good, so I had to try it
It was extremely creamy and rich, with perfect egg noodles. The crispy crab was very flavorful and a fun experience to try!
Fantastic Thai tea of course, a must!
