Brisket, pork, Macaroni and Mashed potatoes and gravy. The brisket didn’t even taste smoked more like it was boiled. Rubbery and awful, no flavor.

This is a great place to eat. They’ve got excellent food, fast service and all of their employees are very friendly and helpful. They genuinely treat you like family here. My only concern is that their dining room, as of March 7, 2026, is 78° F probably closer to 80° F in the middle of the restaurant. I asked a couple of the employees if they could turn on the A/C and they said that they are not allowed. It’s uncomfortably warm in the dining room area so I can’t imagine how warm it must be in the kitchen. Food and services are still excellent though, and everybody was in good spirits.
Addendum: Re response from restaurant- no mention of the uncomfortable temperature in the dining room or any effort to address it. Disappointing

We visited the Donelson location at about 6pm on a Friday. The family decided to order 3 meat samplers and a full rack of pork ribs, dry rub. Immediately after ordering, we hear the back say “no more brisket”. Seemed odd to be out of brisket right at the start of the dinner hour. For the 3 meat sampler, we order the jalapeno sausage and a double order of brisket.
When we received our food, we immediately noticed the brisket and sausage were barely warm. The sausage was good and had great flavor. The brisket served were very small portions. The double order was more like a single order. The brisket itself was very dry. Nothing to write home about and had a texture like I was chewing on meat from a roast beef sandwich from a deli. Quite the disappointment.
Again, we ordered the rack of ribs dry rub. It’s the best way to know the quality. While the pork ribs were much better than the brisket, they still weren’t that great. They were moist and did pull off the bone, but didn’t have the signature pull-back you’d expect on the bone from smoked ribs. They did have an interesting flavor and texture. I suspect they brine the ribs and possibly cook them in a broth rather than smoke them.
We also tried the fried cornbread. It was served like a pancake cut in half. The taste and texture was like eating a protein (Kodiak) pancake.
For the price, there are better well known competitors downtown and in Mt Juliet. If this is what they serve daily, the folks buying it don’t know decent smoke meat.

I have eaten from this place a few times but today was a special day when I came in to have lunch, our wonderful ladies of Bar-B-Cuties were on the loose providing that wonderful service they are known for!!! A true home feel with people ready to make your experience a great one!
The place accommodates large groups and Family size portions, so FYI. Staff is super attentive and this is one of those joints that caters to a bunch of regulars so it feels just like home! I also posted their sign for Drive-Tru hours!
The place is NOT for people on a diet! That being said, let’s get into it! I ordered the Cornbread sandwich with Brisket with a side of Green Turnips. I gobbled it lol and it was absolutely delicious, full of that good Southern love! I had a taste of all their sauces which in my opinion you should try…. They are all great but my personal favs were Carolina and Sweet sauces!!! Some yummy stuff here!!! Add it to your bucket list of your near the BNA (airport) -Nashville area.
I promise to update you on dessert, you all know me, that’s my evening treat! Video and pic just added! This stuff is great!!!

We go here quite often and I love everything I have ate so far. I have several favorites. The baby back ribs OMG are wonderful and the Brisket. But my favorite meal is Hamburger Steak with gravy mashed potatoes and fried okra and fried cornbread. With a big glass of sweet tea.Prices are still affordable food is great and the service always good. The restaurant is always clean. Check it out if your looking for southern home cooking you will get it here.

Picked this placed based off of the amazing reviews that were given and wasn’t disappointed. Everything that came out was great the turnup greens and sausage was my favorite. The fried pickles with the Jalapeño Ranch were to die for. The service was excellent. Sad there wasn’t any brisket left but as being a smoke house and getting there late, I knew better lol.
