I’ll be honest, I had really high hopes for this place. There’s a place like this called Rosemary’s in downtown Bakersfield. Coming here solidified it, Rosemary’s is absolutely the best family homemade ice cream parlor/diner in California.
Let’s start by pointing out the obvious, this place is very overpriced. $17.99 for a sandwich, are you serious? Sure it was a decent size, but it was not special enough to be that price.
I started with a bowl of chili. And that’s where the disappointment began. It was very bland and lacked flavor. Wish I did not order that at all.
The sandwich is decent, but the thing is just oversized and overstuffed, ended up making it not so great. I should’ve stuck with a regular size sandwich, I think that would have been better.
The ice cream, that was bomb. But how can you really mess up on ice cream. Homemade ice cream is always the best.
All in all I gave this place 3 stars because of the service was great, they were very attentive and kind. Food is overpriced and honestly food doesn’t taste that great.
I’m not saying don’t come here for ice cream, I think that’s the given that this place has a great ice cream. But if you’re looking to have lunch or dinner, you might have better luck without breaking your bank somewhere else.

Kids wanted to come here. The food is ok, overpriced but so is everything else now a days.
The ice cream is always consistent. Kids got a banana split and enjoyed it. Burger and fries were pretty basic (background of the pic) and underwhelming.

The ice cream offerings are delicious however the food is just okay. There’s an upcharge for every little thing when the food is already pricey. Being a specialized sundae restaurant, I guess it’s to be expected. Service is always great, but I’d prefer to come here for the cold treats only.

This was our first time coming here and I will not go back. Our sever was nice but very slow. Our very expensive Sundays were melted when served to us. It was like eating ice cream soup. We saw them sitting on the counter ready to be served but he didn’t bring them to us. He served others, whose Sundays were fresh but waited on ours and it was soupy. I asked him about it and he said it was ready for only a couple of minutes. He lied. We saw it sitting there for over 10 minutes. I was going to push the issue but my daughter asked me not to. It was terrible. The Sundays ranged in pricing from like 14-18 dollars. It’s comprised of several scoops but it’s ice cream. It can’t be left sitting for too long. I saw other Sundays that looked good while we were waiting to be seated. The fries I ordered came out quickly and very hot. They were good! A pretty penny was paid for 3 Sundays and we were disappointed. I’m going to blame the server on this one. We were excited to try it but left disappointed. We should have gone to Handels. We didn’t want to wait in the long line. We should have waited. It had to be better than what we had.

Great food and great customer service!! My family and I recently visited this busy location for a birthday brunch and our server “Alex” was awesome! Good environment – family friendly, with big portions and fast service! We even got a promo for buy one get one free banana splits !!

The food here was AMAZING. Rarely does everyone in our family finish their meals like clean plate finished and the food was so good that even my picky 11 year old ate everything.
We also ordered ice cream and wow… it was perfectly crafted. Not overly sweet, super creamy, and the toppings added the perfect balance. It’s honestly hard to describe, but it was just that good.
This is officially our new favorite spot which is funny because we didn’t even want to go at first. So glad we did.
Big shout out to Andres our server for the amazing service. His smile was contagious, and our family was truly delighted with him. We’ll definitely be back!

They move fast through the line! Like amusement parks, they’re great for single riders (I was able to bypass a clump of families with indecisive small children and get served within about a minute of entering the store.) Great ice cream, and great service! Next time I might try a dipper waffle cone

Their ice cream is great. Most of their food is good. It’s all overpriced. Nickel and dime you for sauce (bbq ranch etc). Service is decent. I’d take my kids more but it’s just too expensive for a diner with great ice cream.
