My mother’s favorite for family events such as birthdays and such.
Always room for our large group (20+) when reservations are made.
Food is always fresh and tasty, priced right.
Staff is extremely competent and accommodating to those micro needs of a large group.
Outside smoking area.
Convient location, easy to access, sizeable parking.
Over 40 visits and not a single complaint.

It’s been over 15 years I’ve been coming here on and off and this place is a Columbus staple. Tell em it’s your birthday and you’ll have an amazing time. Happy birthday Sarah! I love you!

I will never eat here again! Me and my wife came to eat here and the service was horrible! It started out great until another table of regulars came in and we were just forgotten about. We had to ask for the check a couple times and the table next to us of regulars had to ask only once for anything they wanted. The waiter neglected us the whole time. My wife asked for pickles on her sandwich we were informed that there was no pickles only bell peppers my wife said not to worry about the pickles or peppers. He didn’t listen and brought out peppers on her sandwich. Thank god she isn’t allergic to peppers. She also asked for mayo and he never brought it and the table next to us only had to ask for a refill of chips once and he brought it out immediately. The waiter wasn’t polite at all until he seen a party table full of regulars. He laughed with the bartender the whole time while we waited for our check and chatted it up with the regulars. We paid the tab left a tip and left. Even if he knew the regulars tipped him well this was our first time eating here so we expected a good experience we didn’t receive that sadly but we still left a more then generous tip for horrible service. He shouldn’t neglect tables because he feels as if people aren’t going to tip. The overall experience was horrible and I would never go back. The host and the ladies up front when we walked in were very nice!

I think his name was pachino. This was last night 1/25/2026 in the section right next to the bar.

My visit to El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant was nothing short of a gastronomic journey. The standout dish of the evening was undoubtedly the pineapple shrimp bowl. Each succulent shrimp was cooked to perfection, and the addition of pineapple added a delightful twist to the flavors. It was a harmonious blend of sweet and savory that left my taste buds craving for more.

What truly sets El Vaquero apart, however, is its exceptional staff. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming demeanor of the employees made me feel like a valued guest. They were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also eager to offer recommendations, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was top-notch.

Moreover, I couldn’t help but notice the impeccable cleanliness of the restaurant. The tables were spotless, and the overall hygiene standards were impressively high. It’s clear that El Vaquero places a strong emphasis on maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for its patrons.

All in all, El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant is a hidden gem that combines delectable cuisine, outstanding service, and a commitment to cleanliness. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression and keeps you coming back for more. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

The booths were a little small for my tastes, but our waiter was sooo nice. He was a sweet kid. The food was really good. I wish they offered al pastor meat, but nevertheless, still very good.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus, they never skimp out on the meat like other places. Staff is always professional and very attentive to tables. I dont drink anymore but when I used to the Margaritas are solid and not watered down, all around you will get your money’s worth here and if you leave hungry its only your fault.

I visited this establishment on a Tuesday the second week of July, one hour before closing time. When I arrived, I checked to see if there was any available seating and whether the kitchen was open. There weren’t many people there, and we got our dinner immediately. I ordered carne asada fajitas, which came with rice and beans. The carne asada was flavorless, and the beans were overly thick and did not taste fresh or adequately cooked. I also got the shrimp fajitas for two, which were satisfactory in terms of portion but lacking in flavor. Finally, I ordered the chicken taco with a side of mac and cheese, but instead received a chicken enchilada and what appeared to be Kraft mac and cheese. I was really upset with both the lack of effort put into the cuisine and the quality of the children’s meal, which was supposed to be a taco rather than an enchilada.

I have been here years ago and I see why they are still going strong. I had vegetarian tacos with spinach and grilled onions. The tacos were cooked well and stuffed with an acceptable portion size for the price. I ordered guacamole for my appetizer. Food came out quickly and was seemingly fresh .

Wonderful food and service. The chips and salsa were delicious. Thick chips that were very crispy and the salsa had a smokey peppery bite that was very welcomed, not like a cheap salsa that tastes of just tomato. The molcajete was filled with steak, chicken, shrimp and plenty of veggies and cheese. It came with a side dish of Mexican rice and four flour tortillas. Paired with a frozen margarita this was a wonderfully satisfying meal.
