If you’re going to Sam Diego’s Mexican Restaurant and don’t get a drink from Cailin and Sampson, you’re seriously missing out.

Cailin and Sampson are, without exaggeration, the BEST bartenders ever. From the second you sit down, they make you feel like you’re not just another customer — you’re part of the fun. Their energy is unmatched, their personalities are magnetic, and they somehow manage to keep the bar running flawlessly even when it’s packed.

Every drink they make is absolute perfection — balanced, strong (in the best way), and crafted with skill. You can tell they genuinely care about what they’re serving. Whether it’s your first time there or you’re a regular, they remember you, they hype you up, and they make the whole experience unforgettable.

They don’t just serve drinks — they create the vibe. The laughter, the quick wit, the effortless teamwork between them — it’s honestly impressive to watch. You leave not just happy, but already planning your next visit.

Cailin and Sampson ARE Sam Diego’s. Give them a raise immediately.

Visited Sam Diego’s for the first time on a whim. We arrived in time for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the place. I’m no expert on Mexican cuisine, so what we had was probably not “authentic” but it was very tasty and filling! My hubby and I opted for items from the $8.95 lunch menu – which indicated slightly smaller portions – but, trust me, it was plenty of food! And these days, $8.95 for lunch is a real bargain! I had the Del Rio Burrito and hubby had the Veggie Quesadilla. Upon sitting down our excellent server, Michele, greeted us warmly and brought a basket of warm and crispy tortilla chips with a side of salsa – excellent! It was clear she was a seasoned professional as the service she provided was top notch and she checked in on us during the meal to see if we needed anything. The atmosphere was pleasant and clean and I bet this place simply jumps in the summer! But definitely worthy of a visit any time of year. We surely will be back!

If you’re in the area and looking for a causal place for some hearty food, stop in here. My rating is based on my expectations of a casual hangout establishment. And it met this expectation with no problems.

First, they have a big parking area with an equally large dining area. Then, our server Melissa was just great. Friendly, attentive, and helpful in terms of helping me navigate a gluten allergy. They even have a gluten free menu which is very convenient.

The food overall was good. Large portions and served piping hot which is what I like. We weren’t looking for anything gourmet but rather just a hearty meal after spending a while driving into the area. I had a fruit flavored skinny margarita which is hard to find.

The prices were in line with similar places.

The establishment is suitable for all ages, families, singles, couples and retirees. I imagine it’s LGBTQ friendly given that it’s in the Cape.

We liked it and we would return the next time we’re visiting.

Mexican restaurants can always accommodate our vegetarian and gluten-free preference. Sam Diego’s choices were the most limited we’ve come across in our experience. Our friendly and attentive waiter did not know the menu well enough to help us and there was no vegetarian section or clearly labeled corn versus flour tortillas. We did eventually figure it out and portions were large but the food was just good enough. In a pinch, we would go back, but that wouldn’t be our first choice.

Highly recommend! The chicken chimichangas were fantastic, and the pulled pork tacos were just as delicious. Everything was flavorful and satisfying, and the fresh margaritas really pulled it all together. We would absolutely return.
