Definitely very good grilled cheese place. They’re homemade. Chips are excellent. I wished I had more time here to try all the grilled cheese. The Monte Cristo is excellent. It’s a weekend special smashburgers sorry smash grill cheeseburger was good. Not to mention the specialty pops they have on tap. Definitely a go-to spot very popular place too. Lots of people eating there and in and out with to-go orders

The location and interior space were not what I expected. Sort of a “hole-in-the-wall” type of space and a bit cramped. But everything looked clean.
You order at the counter from a large menu display. Thanks to previous reviewers who said getba 1/2 sandwich and maybe a dipper of soup if you don’t have a huge appetite. So much good food!
I ordered 1/2 a Briqueso and it was so stuffed with goodness it was almost too much of a good thing. The tomato bisque was scorching hot, but oh so yummy! A full cup, let alone a bowl of it could be a meal on its own.
The self-serve soda fountain contained the usual suspects, plus 4 options from Stubborn Soda. The cream pineapple soda was most excellent!
Looking forward to trying other menu options here the next time we are in town!

Stopped by and had an amazing pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich “Porker”. Friendly staff, fast food and to die for chips! The decor was rugged modern, and general atmosphere was great. During busy times seating could be an issue, but they have outdoor seating as well. Definitely recommend for those who love to indulge in rich good food!

I have found my heaven on earth! Joe McCarthy is one of those rare chefs who works tirelessly to love his customers. The fact that I am gluten and dairy free for the past thirty years has kept me far from one of my favorite dishes – a good grilled cheese. Joe made all of my dreams come true when he offered gluten free bread and vegan cheeses. I admit that I cried a little when I ate there the first time. Now we are regulars. Megan can make any sandwich I want with very few exceptions and I am safe and happy.
The Cubano is my very favorite and the Reuben is my husband’s. The fries are incredible and all of the breakfast items are on my “try next”list. Best lunch or take out in town.

5.27.25 updated review: I said I wanted to come back to try something more classic and that’s exactly what I did. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted. It was after lunch hour so we missed the rush and it was pretty quiet inside. The same employee (I don’t think she was wearing a name tag) who took our order was smiling, friendly, and personable and even when she wasn’t helping customers, she stayed busy with other tasks.
I went with the Ultimate Meltz, which comes with 6 different cheeses: white cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, fontina, goat cheese, and gorgonzola. Talk about cheesy! (See video) Same employee even delivered our food to our table. It arrived hot and it’s cheesiness did not disappoint. Surprisingly all the cheeses blended well, yet you could still distinctly taste each individual cheese. I also got a Royale cookie, which has chocolate chips, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It had a good softness to it and not overly gooey nor undercooked. As for my drink, I went with my go-to fountain cream soda. So many good choices here that I have no idea what I’ll get next lol. Updated review gets 5 stars across the board.

I’m still fasting on meat and so I went with the Briqueso that sounded loaded and amazing. All sandwiches are made to order too. Quick recap, the Briqueso has white cheddar, brie mousse, roasted artichoke, sweet red pepper, caramelized onion, garlicky spinach, and grilled zucchini. I ordered a full size and it was pretty big and came out steaming hot with cheese oozing out the sides. It was so tasty and all the veggie goodness melded together really well. It’s worth noting they have really good fountain cream soda too. I also tried the chocolate chip cookie, which was a decent size. It wasn’t too soft nor stale either. However, at $3.50 each, it’s a bit pricey. The restaurant itself was nice inside, but it is kinda cramped. I get it, they’re trying to utilize all the space they got. Service at the order counter was mediocre, but at least she wasn’t rude. I’ll be back again because I want to try a more traditional grilled cheese with just cheese.

Got a chance to experience Meltz at the Mac and Cheese Festival in downtown Coeur d’ Alene tonight and their dish was outstanding!!! Their chef and staff were well prepared and very professional. Great presentation and I highly recommend supporting them. Thanks to the Coeur d’ Alene Downtown Association for putting on such a superb event and thanks to Woops for hosting Meltz. Shout out to Woops for always having the best cannolis, macarons, pastries, sandwiches, coffee, hot chocolate, chai! Such a pleasure supporting local small business’s!!!”

I saw a review of Meltz on a FaceBook post so I decided to give it a try. I absolutely L-O-V-E Reuben’s and decided to try a half a sandwich and a chocolate cookie for dessert.
One of the absolutely BEST Reuben’s I have ever eaten! The pickled red onions and the sauce made the sandwich even better.
So glad I only got the half because it was more than enough for one meal.
The chocolate chip cookie was fantastic as well.

We had heard Meltz was really good, so we stopped in for a grilled cheese on our way through town. What a cool place! We ordered half of each of the Rooben Evolooshun, Pot Sticker Meltz, and Cubano. They were served with house-made potato chips and Artichoke dip (both very good!) All three sandwiches were amazing!. The crew was super friendly. Best grilled cheese I’ve had! We will definitely be going back!
