My husband and I had supper tonight at Penny’s Diner in North Platte, Nebraska, and it was such a fun little find. The whole place has that classic 60s diner feel with the booths and the black and white checkered floor. Super cute and nostalgic without feeling cheesy.

We didn’t have to wait at all, which is always a win. As soon as we sat down, Robby, who was both our waiter and the cook, brought our drinks and menus right away. Talk about service.

We both went with breakfast for supper. John ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelette with hashbrowns and toast, and I had pancakes and eggs. Y’all… the pancakes were as big as the plate. I’m not exaggerating. They were fluffy, delicious, and so filling I couldn’t even finish one.

The grill is right there beside you, so you can actually watch your food being made. It’s basically dinner and a show, and I kind of love that.

Robby was phenomenal. Friendly, efficient, and just one of those people who makes the whole experience better.

We’ll definitely be adding Penny’s Diner to our list of go-to spots when we’re in North Platte again.

This place looked good online, but upon entering I can tell this place isn’t taken care of really well, the bathrooms are like that of a Shady truck stop. The service, well there wasnt much of it. Our “server” was not the best. The food was poor, the French toast was undercooked, not to mention a hair in my food.
This place could use a makeover and train new people and it would a lot better than it is. Im sure locals have come to settle with the poor execution of this establishment, so if your coming from out of town. I suggest playing it safe and going elsewhere.

Such a cute and classic diner experience! Like the kind you see in the movies, with it’s retro vibes and airstream-like exterior, offering all the best classic diner fare.
Legitimately being open 24 hours is amazing too! Will definitely be bookmarking for future adventures out west, it’s the perfect quintessential road trip stop. The service wasn’t the “sweetest” at first, but honestly it added to the charm and experience, and she warmed up to us by the end 🙂

Root beer float was just as good as you’d expect, and I had the Frisco melt burger which was delicious.

Their t-shirts were so cute, I had to get one!!

The food is good, the service was very good. The atmosphere is noisy and the menu-on-phone is cumbersome. Parking is in back. Turn in like you are going to the hotel. Parking is not condusive to trailers.

A normal Thursday morning in November my wife and I went on for breakfast. The morning sun blazing through the windows illuminating the pressed metal ceiling. A lot of “regulars” we’re there. I had the sunrise skillet and my wife had the basic breakfast. The food was good, the service was very good as the waitress kept the coffee full. I would eat here again.

I am surprised this place hasn’t been shut down by the health department.
The food was decent, but the waitress was horrible. Thank goodness that the cook was attentive, or I would have left. The place is filthy and needs some serious attention.

Good food. Good amount and friendly staff.
The bathrooms are nice, but there is a grease smell. Very small diner and locals hangout.

Their grill was broken so they had a condensed menu, but that didn’t stop the food from being any less delicious! The club sandwich and fries were delicious, and the mint chocolate chip (using Andes mints I think) has got to be the best shake I’ve had in a long time.

The place has a nice theme, the workers were friendly and it’s a great location for anyone on a road trip passing through or staying at one of the nearby hotels.

This is a cute little diner with an amazing staff. They were so friendly and service was fantastic. We loved the chicken fried steak, as well as the Ruben. We also had dessert, Carmel Apple pie and Boston cream. I love eating at local diners due the wonderful atmosphere. This place didn’t disappoint.
