My wife and I love this place. We almost always used to come weekly due to how much we loved their various rolls. It was actually my wife who introduced me to sushi, and since then I’ve always grabbed the same order, salmon nigiri and a Jessica roll, or a Washington. My wife has wildly more variety than me, but she would always leave content.
Recently, that hasn’t been happening. Maybe it’s ourselves changing, or maybe the restaurant, but the food we’ve gotten just isn’t the same. The baked rolls we used to receive are now cold, the rice mush, and the inside of rolls filled with too much shredded crab. My usual Jessica roll order used to have the tempura inside be crunchy and warm, now it’s soggy and cold.
This last visit was just the tipping point for us. We loved coming here because it was good portions, good price, and a great atmosphere to eat with family and friends. Now, it’s just another sushi place that has deviated from the standards it used to have. While the service itself was impeccable, that’s not the only reason we go for in a food place.
Before leaving, we spoke with the server on duty, and my friend left her contact information for the manager to follow up. No one ever reached out, and follow-up calls went unanswered.
While the servers were friendly and checked on us multiple times, the purpose of ordering ahead is convenience. Given that another reviewer reported the same issue, the restaurant needs to either accept online orders promptly or communicate delays upfront—otherwise there’s little point in ordering online through their website.
Finally a Sushi place I enjoy the food. We had it delivered. But next time i definitely will go in. The sushi was fresh and the cucumber sushi was delicious. I got the crunchy sushi roll. My favorite. Finally I found Hello Sushi who makes it how I love it. Located behind McDonald’s on Redlands Blvd near Alabama Street
This is a must try it!
I recommend you try all their sushi
Price is cheap
Quality – mid at best
Service – bad to ok
As a long time customer, I’ve definitely seen the decline in the quality and service over the years. Quality decline is not as bad as the decline is service though.
The servers need to be trained. The servers, you could tell, they are new to the service industry. Servers are very young, teens if not early 20s. They lack proper training, from their introduction to service.
They look stressed or unhappy. Depressing vibes.
Several times now, we didnt get wasabi right off the bat. One time i asked for one, i got handed with a plate and big dollop of wasabi like its a side dish.
Sushi the last few times we’ve visit has been falling apart terribly. Half the time you cant even use the chop sticks because the roll will literally come undone.
Msg for the owner – train your servers and your chefs. It would be a shame to lose this restaurant.
