Tucked away at the back of the laneway between Oxford Street and Leederville Parade, Tsuke Ba is a great little spot for lunch.
The venue itself is very unassuming, but this works in its favour. It does great food and provides friendly service – that’s all that matters. I’ve been there many times and am happy to recommend the spicy salmon poke bowl. I also like the spicy chicken poke bowl. Both these dishes are full of goodness, including brown rice, edamame beans, a special sauce, cabbage and a few other ingredients that combine to make for two really tasty dishes. They also do gluten free versions of some of the salads, so those with dietary requirements are looked after.
I’ve also had the salmon poke bowl, which is a milder version of the spicy salmon poke bowl. It’s super tasty but without the spice. Also on offer is a good range of sushi, as well as different flavoured rice paper rolls. The rice paper rolls come as a serve of two, but the portion size is generous so it will definitely fill you up. They also have an array of sauces – most notably soy and siracha – that you can add to your dishes. This is great for when you opt to eat it in. It’s also a nice touch that makes for a homely atmosphere.
One thing I like about the venue is its low-key vibe. You can just stroll on in, grab your food and – if you eat in – take your time to enjoy it. It also helps that the staff are always really friendly and make you feel welcome.
There is plenty of space to sit too. You have the bench by the wall, as well as the two long round black bench seats, one of which backs onto the arcade. They’re really comfortable. Oh, and the dishes are well priced too, with the salads coming in at under $20. This is great value for what you get – a healthy and substantial meal.
The venue is popular with office workers and tradies alike and it’s easy to grab a quick takeaway if you’re on the move. Equally, if you have time, it’s a nice place to sit and chill and watch the world go by. And, after you’re done with lunch, you can always go exploring to see what’s happening in Leederville.
With its laneway location and ample parking close by, Tsuke Ba is very convenient. Plus, it’s only a short walk from Leederville train station, so it’s easy to get to from the CBD or other neighbouring suburbs.

I go to Tsuke-Ba 2-3 times a week! Their sushi are so fresh and there’s lots of variety. Amazing salad and poke bowls. The karage chicken skewers are always so crispy. Delicious and well priced hot meals. The katsu chicken curry with brown rice has been my winter favourite. My kids love the mini sushi options. Staff are incredibly friendly. Cannot recommend enough.

It said to be open until 5pm but when we arrived at 3pm the kitchen was closed and we could only choose what was left over. It was a bit disappointing.

Tuske-Ba is just the best Sushi (and other Japanese takeaway foods) in Perth, which is why it gets so busy. The staff are the happiest, friendly people, even under pressure. I wish they would open a store in Karrinyup!!
