We went there today for my birthday dinner. We wanted to try a new place. We heard this was a hidden gem and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was absolutely breathtaking. The food was delicious. We tried the lobster bisque, clams Casino crab and linguine, and we added scallops and stuffed flounder! For my birthday dessert I had Key lime pie. It was to die for the view, and the decor were phenomenal so much to look at.. our waitress was very upbeat and happy and did not drop the ball once it was a great experience. We will be back for sure.

I wanted to love this hidden gem! We were heading to The Red Eyed Crab which we realized was closed so we searched for nearby alternatives. This place looked interesting.
Parking lot was packed (Labor Day Sunday 6pm) which is a good and bad sign. The setting is adorable..a huge old barn with a bull painted on the side. There’s a raised screened in porch plus a small inside dining room with 4 booths and 2 tables. Never been so we asked for how seating worked and were told to take an available table. We sat for 20+ minutes as two servers passed us a dozen times without glancing in our direction. We finally asked another table for a menu. After another 10 minutes a server said she’d be with us. We decided to order both our drinks and our dinner: iced tea, soda, 2 orders clams on the half shell, a crab cake and mussels w linguine.
Iced tea arrived not in any ice (?) so we requested a side of ice. The claa as ms on the half shell were perfect! Nice sized, fresh and juicy. Both entrees were subpar and we so wanted to love them. The mussels weee micro- mussels as they were the size of my fingernail (not exaggerating) and the crab cake was just ehh.
The server was sweet with a great personality which made up for our disappointment. I’m sure they have a small kitchen and they were slammed but….
Setting was great, very cool place!

What a view is all I can say! This is a must do if youv never been! I met 2 lovely sisters Taylor and kiri. Be sure to ask for one of them. Taylor was my waitress, excellent and great giving advice from the menu! During my beer cracking(BYOB), so bring your spirits! Kiri was wonderful and was nice enough to show me around and gave me as much history as she could. I got the linquini and crab, it was excellent, keylime pie was delightful! My only complaint would be the portions for both dinner and desert. Hey im a big eater and its kinda important but not a deal breaker. Go check them out and tell the lovely ladies I said hello!

The location is near next to no where. The setting is the attraction. The food is good but not something to rave about. The place is BYOB the regulars bring coolers.

Great food and prices. Awesome waitresses, very rustic place and decor but I think it looks amazing. No A.C. but they had fans going and it wasn’t too hot in there despite it being well over 90° outside. Only 15 minutes from the center of Millville and a nice scenic drive too. Can’t wait to return again.

I’ve been living in south jersey my whole life and restaurants like Bull on the Barn definitely make our little rural area into something special!
Bull on the barn is located In Lawrence. A middle of the nowhere type of town that is near the bay. Since being near the water, the air is still breezy and cool even on the really hot days. This adds to the restaurants very unique atmosphere and makes it a very comforting place to be at. It’s very BYOB in a very good way. You enter and you can pick a seat at whatever is open. Every table, seat or booth is different and only adds character(I wonder if there is seating up those steps). Only adds more reason to come back again and again. Treat yourself and bring your favorite beer and enjoy some of the finest seafood in the area!
Atmosphere aside, how is their food? Simply put, it’s some of the best seafood I’ve ever had. Chain restaurants can’t compete and after eating here you may finding yourself questioning that fancy seafood restaurant you frequent, asking yourself “how come they never taste this good?” For starters my table got the fried clam strips, oysters Rockefeller, and clams casino. I grew up a very picky eater, who spent time over the last years trying new things. These mussels were a very delicious and rewarding experience(I forgot to take pictures, guess I have to go back and take some. Oh well). For my entree I got the fried flounder with French fries on the side, classic fish and chips. My lovely date got linguine in crab sauce. That fish changed my life and paired with their tar tar sauce, it will be hard not making this a Sunday routine. The pasta dish was very flavorful, the linguine was cooked to Al dente perfection and the lump crab meat was very fresh. I can’t wait to go back and I can’t wait to show my friends and family!
I was also reading negative comments regarding the service. My personal opinion is that I’m grateful for places like Bull on the Barn to still existed after the pandemic. Through economic uncertainties and peoples lives being thrown around these past few years I really don’t care if my drink comes a little late or if the kitchen gets busy. The quality of food and attitude from the workers there will keep me coming back for years. Small businesses like these are what make America so great to begin with and it’s important we support them. Thank you Bull on the Barn for the very pleasant experience. I will be back!

This place is just beautiful! The atmosphere, the location, and the decorations are just amazing! However the food is subpar, clams casino were dry and small, crab cake(yes one) was very fishy(yes I know it’s crab but it shouldn’t taste like that) portion size did not match the price. I’m local and there’s not much game in town, I love eating by the bay like that, but the first time I went I felt the same way about the place that’s why it took me three years to get back and it was the same subpar food and terrible service. As for our server she was sweet but I think they are overwhelmed and service isn’t as good as it could be. All in all I’d go for the apps and ambience! The fact that the seafood is local too makes it a bit better.

Decided to stay local this year for crabs (annual trek to Maryland was just not in the cards). The Bull on the Barn was just the location to make our crew feel like we were transported to another time and place. The kitsch on the walls and ceiling and even in the yard surrounding the restaurant made us feel like we had just come in from the Delaware Bay. The crew shucked the oysters for us (sweet, meaty) cleaned the crabs and seasoned them with garlic and parmesan cheese (a Jersey thing). BYOB– no problem: a few brews from Tonewood and Cape May Brewing did the trick. Check them out before the season ends.

They were out of crabs & jalapeño poppers when we came but probably wouldn’t have gotten anyway. We got the peel your own shrimp which had good seasoning, mostly on the shell but could still taste some; scallops with good flavor but a little too much cook on the bottom from the glaze; clams casino which were my husband’s & he enjoyed. The atmosphere is really cute & set up like a little fishing village. The back porch door needs a spring bc 2 young boys kept going in & out & the door loudly slammed each time which was hugely annoying. Finally the parents told them not to slam it but of course once in a while they did. They need to spray for carpenter bees, they were swarming outside the porch & around the bathroom, lots of them. No bar, soft drinks only which was ok for me, others would’ve liked a beer. I thought about trying the fried clam strips but was afraid they’d be overfried, dry like some places make them, but the lady near us had them & they looked good & she said they tasted good.

One of the few good restaurants left that maintains the small charm feel and good food. Oh and it’s also BYOB. Well done
