A really pleasant surprise inside the hotel – definitely not your typical hotel restaurant. Very comfortable place with high-quality products and super friendly staff. The potatoes were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft inside, absolutely delicious. The butter chicken is highly recommended, and the sandwich was to die for!

My partner and I had an amazing time during our Valentine’s Day dinner at Tulip. Their creative and unique approach to the way they create their dishes was outstanding. Each appetizer, entre and desert were well-plated, delicious, and unlike anything we’ve had before.

The service itself was incredible as our server was very personable and friendly while being highly attentive to our requests. Whilst the food was coming out at a slower pace than most other restaurants, it’s understandable due to how much time and effort goes into creating the dishes.

The restaurant itself had a great ambience and was well decorated, but did not feel as intimate due to the open-front that faced the hotel lobby.

With all of this being said, the experience itself was amazing and is something to remember. I would definitely come back as the overall value, service, and the amazing food is worth every penny.

It’s a restaurant in the lobby of Hilton Garden Inn, so don’t expect much. The food was so so but the service was quick. The pasta dish was extremely salty, so the manager changed it and provided another dish for us which is a good gesture. The burger was fine but the drinks were a regular mix.

A perfect Christmas experience — unforgettable in every way

My grown son and I were looking for something truly special to celebrate our first Christmas together.

He resettled in Canada just over a month ago after spending more than six years in a refugee camp, and we wanted this evening to feel joyful, welcoming, and memorable. I live in New York State, and as we prepare to move to Ottawa, this moment mattered deeply to us.

Tulip immediately felt right. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Vincent, who is both the floor manager and bartender. His presence set the tone for the entire evening—kind, attentive, and genuinely joyful.

For dessert we decided to order the Tarte au citron and the Vegan Chocolate Mousse. This was my son’s first time ever eating dessert. Until now, he only knew dessert as “a small sweet meal that comes after the big meal”—and suddenly it all made sense to him. Why they’re sweet. Why they’re small. Why they’re special.

Watching him experience that moment was incredibly moving.
The lemon tart was bright, balanced, and elegant. The chocolate mousse was rich and comforting.

Two desserts, completely different, each perfect in its own way—almost like two different kingdoms, both beautiful. We both had a strange and wonderful sense of déjà vu, as if this moment had been waiting to happen.

I am a French-trained chef and owned a restaurant in Manhattan for eight years, so I try not to be biased—but I can honestly say: everything about Tulip was perfect. The food, the atmosphere, the service, and the care behind every detail.

This wasn’t just dinner. It was a memory. A Christmas we will never forget.

Highly, wholeheartedly recommended.

My third time dining at this restaurant. They have the best burger in town!! I also love their alio oil pasta and salads. The chef is very creative and the amount of work and attention they put into each dish is just incredible. It doesn’t feel like you’re just dining at a hotel restaurant but it feels closer to fine dining. Their service is also very good. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Decided to stay in at the Hilton Garden Inn and found the comfy chairs in the Tulip. Started with a classic Manhattan, great single cube. Food took a while to come out, but totally worth the wait! Completely delicious combinations and flavors I have not had before. I had the perogies, which sound simple, but oh my gosh, what an incredible flavour. Beet creme fresh and candied bacon made perfect dough pillows even prettier than they tasted, and they were damn good! I followed up with the coho salmon in an incredible puddle of pea puree and a gentle soup.
My friend had the Kari Kari Filipino stew, which was a peanut sauce and chicken delight. The pork chop was perfectly cooked, and the sweet potatoe mash was insane with nuts and mushrooms and asparagus, I wanted more!
I didn’t order the creme Brule, which was orange and rosemary, but the others did, and wow, it was huge and perfect.
I ate most of their’s
I have to say, this is some of the best looking, well displayed, and equally delicious food I have ever eaten in a hotel restaurant. Check the pics.
Alex was great at service. Try tonight!

Stayed the night at the hotel and wanted to try this place as it’s rated highly. We ordered a Shirley Temple, a Lavender Lime Soda, parmesan fries, baked sushi, and the Coho dish. The drinks were good, so was the parm fries (comes with this dipping sauce and ketchup). I personally found the sushi bake underwhelming, it lacked a depth in flavour but the plating was cute. The coho salmon was cooked and seasoned well, I liked the herb oil/creamy dashi that it was plated on top of, it went well with the gnocchi.

Overall the service was nice, the bartender was very friendly and welcoming, the server was friendly and showed us what the dishes looked like if a table nearby ordered something we were curious about. It is a bit on the pricier end but everything is pleasing to the eye, just missing the “oomph” factor in the flavour of the dishes we tried. I’d be open to trying other items on their menu!

If you’re nearby and want a pleasant dining experience that’s a bit more upscale then I’d give them a visit.

The Chef is wonderful and he made good Vegan and Vegetarian dishes. There were plenty of options for us in at the buffet. The staff is helpful and friendly. This restaurant is located inside the Hilton Garden Hill Hotel in downtown Ottawa. I will defiantly recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Thank you team for a good experience.
