On The Hook was at Menards today and this was my first time getting their fish. I must say it was very good! It had a light batter and the fish was moist. Some of the best cod I’ve had. The fries were delicious too. Seasoned well, and a good thickness for fries. Soft, but with a good crisp to them. My wife said the cole slaw was excellent too and liked that the seasoning was on the side. She said that was a good idea. I hope to see their food truck in the surrounding area again.

Now the obvious aside – the food was great! Even by the time we got home, roughly 15 minutes the food was still hot! I got the cod cakes and fish and chips. Cod cakes weren’t bad, but not for me. However, the meal itself was phenomenal!
I can’t wait for them to come by again! Even with the long wait it’s worth it for the quality of food and freshness.
You don’t go to a scratch kitchen and expect a quick pickup like your at a McDonald’s.

On the Hook has the most amazing Fresh Cod Fish! Take from me born and raised in Baltimore Maryland and I moved to Missouri for my husband job 5 years ago I had the lucky pleasure of finding in the Hook Truck and WOW I was amazed at how fresh this fish is the taste is hands down the Best and I have spent my life eating Fresh seafood that comes right in on the boats, lightly and perfectly battered and cook to perfection it never fails or disappoints! I Love on the Hook! On the Hook please move into the east coast we will be moving back home and the only thing I will miss here is On the Hook Fish and fries! Keep up the amazing work!

Have been wanting to catch this place for a while and have seen some good reviews. I waited for about 1.5 hours in line and was hoping this would be good gosh but sadly it just was not. I hated the batter, had a weird white wine taste to me and was crispy or flaky at all which I expect for cod. Also lacked any seasoning or flavor. The fries were pretty good but they are just fries so nothing exciting there. I also think they were trying to get through the line as fast as they could so they were bulk frying too many pieces of fish at once causing them not to be crispy like they should be. I won’t be returning; was not worth it for me.

Not a bad taste, good portion size of fries . Unfortunately the fillets are to skinny causing it to be easily over cooked. If they didn’t cut each fillet in half this would be 5 stars from not just me but every other bad review. A little seasoning goes along way as well. Im not convinced this isn’t a side company of Long John silvers. Thanks for the experience

Truck in Boonville, Mo on 5/17/25. I tried this as I always like to support local businesses. However, 3 pieces of fish with an additional piece of fish added was $19.82. Let’s start with the fish has no seasoning at all. To top it off one piece was burnt. Additionally, I asked for Sriracha Mayo and was given Sweet Chili sauce as the condiment. It’s absolutely bland fish and needed all the sauce to tolerate eating it. Don’t waste your money!

The fish and chips are the only thing they serve here and that’s because they perfect it, even in a food truck. The cod is lightly battered and cooked to order until golden crisp, and the fries are hearty but with the necessary crunch and seasoning. Use all of the sauces! Tarter, malt vinegar, and the ringer was the spicy sweet chili that worked for everything. Great price point, with great quality fish, and large portions. We were surprised to see the truck pull up to our location in Lead, South Dakota. Left more than satisfied without the typical grease hangover.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great tasting fish. The chips are fantastic too. First time trying the root beer and recommend also. Any time the food truck is around I try to stop by to get this delicious meal.

This was my first time trying this food truck, they were in the Raymore, MO area. I smelled the fried fish before I saw the yellow truck so I had to stop and check it out. I waited about 5 or so minutes for the meal. Everything was nicely fried and fresh. My only complaint- for $15 there should at least be another side or more fries served. The serving was a bit skimpy on the fries. Otherwise good food!

So we went to one of the trucks the company has that travels around. The one I visited came to Greenville, TX and my family had been keeping an eye on it for a while on Facebook. I will start out, I don’t like cod. Never been a fan, I was expecting to give them my pieces after trying it and just eat the fries. Nope, I kept them. It was that good where I wanted to eat my cod. The breading they use makes the fries some of the best I’ve had, and the cod just doesn’t have that fishy taste I’ve never been a fan of.
The sauces they give are also very tasty and go along well with the food. My family likes either one of them if not both, so you don’t need to worry about having to find something to dip the fish in.
The last thing is the service. At least for the traveling trucks. They got the wait time down to an art. If they tell you they will be done in 8 minutes, it will be ready in 8 minutes.
All in all, check Facebook to see if they come by your city and make sure to get it that day. It’s worth it. Every penny of the price they give you worth it.
