Went here for a birthday meal and we were blown away with the restaurant, staff, and especially the food. I cannot state how delicious the fish and shrimp were, and the sides were such a good complement. Thank you for making our birthday meal so surprisingly memorable!

Rico (the owner) is so personable and took the time to talk to us and tell us his story. Everyone has to come visit.

Mouthwatering flavors and coma-inducing portions. The hour drive back to High Point was a struggle with the food smells in my car, but it was totally worth it for the great food! Try and save room for dessert if you can, but at least plan to take a cake slice home, the lemon poundcake was delicious!

SO glad I tried Kornna Kitchen! It’s difficult to be impressed with traditional food and something you’ve ate countless times. However they got me, this was exactly my experience at Kornna Kitchen. Although I’ve ate soul food and previously had the dishes that are served at Kornna Kitchen I was blown away by the restaurants execution of their menu.

The whiting meal was spectacular. For starters, the fish was full sized and NOT a flimsy piece of whiting that often served at some restaurants. The seasoning was wonderful with a nice herb blend (fish fry esque) seasoning along with a flaky crust. My mac & cheese and potato salad sides were also very good. I normally don’t order potato salad but I called an audible and was pleasantly surprised with the refreshing taste.

Last but not least were the mambo wings. Arguably the best wings I’ve ever had. Crispy on the outside reminded a bit of a Korean double fry and juicy on the inside. The mambo sauce was perfect and tossed nicely with the wing. Overall the food at Kornna Kitchen sets the bar for soul comfort food. This is the type of restaurant you cant wait to return to and will leave satisfied.

The food is great and full of flavor. The fried corn bites, greens and hush puppies are insanely craveable. The staff is very friendly and love to talk to their guests. If you enjoy very well seasoned food and a relaxed environment then you should give these fine folks a try.

The atmosphere is alright I guess, even though we came with a party of 7 (at a non busy time) and they didn’t have any tables for more than 5 people. We tried ordering online beforehand, but whoever picked up didn’t want to go through the trouble of making an online order and just told us to come in person. I didn’t think too much of it though at first. So we sit down and order our food, all with waters, and the water took over 10 minutes to come out to begin with. On top of that, our food took over an hour (in some cases 2) to come to our table, the orders got mixed up, and it wasn’t even good. The chicken was fried way too hard to the point where it was unappetizing, the mozzarella sticks didn’t have any cheese in them (HOLLOW), the caesar salad was completely drenched in dressing, the chili cheese fries didnt have good chili and were missing cheese, and the corn and fish were greasy like they were cooked in old oil. The picture of fries included was the replacement and the cheese tasted like kraft. The sweet tea wasn’t sweet either. The normal fries were decent but still not seasoned any special type of way, so very mediocre food overall. Additionally, the only person really working (who was the nicest woman) doesn’t even work here for real, just helping out for the day from what I heard. And when I made the request to speak to the owner/manager, he didn’t even have the decency to come try and make things right to our faces. Instead he sent our server over to just tell us our food was free. Overall, very poor management and cooking going on here. I don’t care how many people hype this place up because this experience was enough for me to not return. It’s truly unfortunate for me to have to make a review like this for a black owned business, but I’ll be ordering a pizza.

The food was phenomenal and our waitress Amelia was wonderful. I had the whiting platter and my wife had chicken livers. The best homestyle food around. The portions were large and had a good price point. Do yourself a favor and try it out!!!

Kornna Kitchen is a great addition to Martinsville and Henry County. This is a restaurant with date night atmosphere but the prices are comparable to any where else one can eat. We have eaten here atleast once a week for the past month. I order the hamburger steak with peppers and onions. It is enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Tonight I ordered the fried cauliflower and corn bites for my sides. Omg. The corn bites were delicious and I had it dripping all over my face. I do not eat cauliflower anywhere else. All I can say is go support this locally owned restaurant. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is upscale in the old historic building, and the employees are attentive. Way to go Kornna Kitchen.

REVISION: tonight the owner was our waitress.. we waited an hour & 20 mins on 2 pasta meals & another 20 minutes on our third pasta dish. We were charged an extra $10 for INCLUDED salads.. (the waiter I raved about previously was kind enough to fix that). Waited 45 mins on a coffee, & never got a refill.
Lastly, my “shrimp scampi” was nearly flavorless , the only notable flavor was SOUR. No butter, no garlic. 3 shrimp…. Seems incredibly expensive for a half portion of pasta & 3 shrimp. Other than the salads being removed from the bill, we weren’t offered any sort of apology or compensation for our wait or our horrible service..
leaving HUNGRY after a $105 bill for 2 adults & 1 child.
Never returning. The fact that it was the OWNER that gave this kind of “service” (or lack thereof) gives me no hope for this restaurant.

Original: Amazing food! Great service! The tea & coffee were great. The cake was moist, fish was flavorful, oysters were good!
100% will return (:
It’s not cheap & it’s not incredibly fast, but these are NOT complaints – just informative for the public (:
We were happy to wait for this experience (:
