Apparently tonight was different.
This location has switched to an AI drive-thru ordering system, and it absolutely could not understand our request. No matter how we tried to phrase it, the system just wouldn’t process the order correctly. What should have taken 30 seconds turned into a surprisingly aggravating experience just trying to order something very basic.
When we pulled up to the window, I politely tried explaining the order to the employee so it could be fixed. She stared at me for a solid 8 seconds like I had suddenly grown a second head, then finally responded with a very snobby tone:
“We don’t do that here, sir.”
I was honestly confused by the attitude. This isn’t some complicated custom request — it’s literally half with cheese, half without.
After we paid and waited for the food, I still thanked her when she handed it out. The response? An eye roll and the window slammed shut.
Look, I get that food service can be stressful, but the entitled attitude and the feeling that I was somehow inconveniencing her by ordering food was enough to make sure we won’t be coming back to this particular location.
My advice to management:
Lose the AI drive-thru system if it can’t handle simple orders, and make sure the staff behind the window can at least manage a basic level of customer service.
White Castle sliders are supposed to be the easy, late-night comfort food stop — not an argument with a robot and a side of attitude.
Over the years they’ve become increasingly inconsistent. Following other fast food trends they seem focused on developing new products. That would be fine I suppose, but the truth is they’ve lost sight of what old timers like me relied on. I’m not interested in the gimmicky items that now fill their menu. At White Castle I’ve only ever ‘craved’ a good, hot, seasoned, fresh slider… that’s it. Apparently that’s too much to ask for these days… what I get most often anymore is old, cold, stale food that’s maybe seasoned, maybe not.
I’ve written their corporate office, received apologies, gotten coupons for free food. I’ve received calls from management… blah, blah, blah… I don’t want free food, I’m not interested in letters of apology or calls from concerned managers or franchise owners… all I’ve ever expected from White Castle is a good slider like I grew up with… well, I’m accepting that is now simply a memory, a thing of the past and I’ll leave it at that.
How you can wait in line at a drive through for over half an hour and be served old, lukewarm unseasoned burgers and fries is beyond me… waiting behind a half dozen cars for my food, it has to be fresh and hot… WRONG!!! Well okay White Castle, you win, you’ve been trying to make me realize you’re not the burger place I once cherished… you’ve moved on, and now so am I… obviously you’ve got a clientele that’s indifferent and doesn’t mind spending their money on the product you offer…. I hope that relationship remains a good one for all concerned… I’m done.
I’m sure I’ll be tempted to give ya’ll another try, but I’ve been doing that for several years now, and disappointed far too often. A few years ago I’d written a favorable review when apparently there was new ownership and they were striving to provide good food… I don’t know what happened, maybe business got so good they figured they don’t have to try anymore, I don’t know, but things have changed for the worse, and I’m over it… farewell to the good Ole days…
I was in line for about 15 minutes with at least five or six cars in front of me I was shocked. I’ve never been here before . I was talking to a computer on the drive-through screen actually definitely something new to me. Not sure if it’s always been at this location like that like I said because I’ve never been here before. So for the amount of time. I waited to finally get my food at the drive through which was the correct order greatfully. The woman that delivered my food was nice but the food to me had no taste. That was definitely not worth waiting the 20 something minutes that I did wait in the drive-through. The only thing I do commend that it definitely was made fresh, which was probably why it took so long it just didn’t have any seasoning or flavor to me or really salt i’m disappointed I come from Florida and we don’t really have white castles around where I live so I was excited to come here to be disappointed
