I had dinner at this restaurant yesterday and ordered chana daal with rice. It was okay — the level I expect when visiting a new place — but I really needed some desi food, and at least it didn’t upset my stomach. I was too tired today after a trip and figured I’d just go back since it’s right next to my hotel.
Big mistake — totally ruined my night.
I ordered palak paneer. Before ordering, I specifically asked the waitress if they use real paneer (not tofu or soy). She confirmed it was made in-house and assured me it was authentic paneer.
Let me be clear: I had just spent an entire week in Mannheim Germany eating proper Indian food with actual paneer dishes, so the taste is fresh in my mind. What they served here was absolutely not paneer — it had the texture and bland flavor of tofu or some cheap soy product. Look at the zoomed in pic on their in-house made paneer.
When I pointed this out, instead of listening, the waitress started yelling right in my face that it was paneer, even shouting into the kitchen (which was just a few steps away). No apology, no willingness to understand — just aggressive pushback. The owner insisted its paneer – I dont understand why french milk is yielding wierd stuff compared to rest of the world ! I asked if I could swap the dish for daal instead — the waitress refused and told me I’d need to place a new order and pay again. Seriously?
To top it off, I could hear the staff (mostly the waitress) loudly talking about what I said about their fake paneer from the kitchen, assuming I didn’t understand what she was saying. Such a shameless creature ! Completely unprofessional and disrespectful.
I barely touched the food, left it on the table, and still paid the full bill. Honestly, the dishonesty, the cheap attitude, and the total lack of customer service is abominable. I will file complaint against them.
AVOID THIS PLACE ! Complete fraudster
I tried Biriyani and the rate was around 20€. Cash and cards accepted. Wheelchairs friendly access.
Edit: I happen to visit it for the second time and it was not upto the mark. The quantity was reduced significantly for the Biriyani and I decided not to visit again for this scam. Taste is good but the quantity is not even worth it and I am sorry to say this. I tried lassi as well which was good. But quantity is not what we expect if we are spending 20€ for a biriyani.
Per head rate was around 20€. Good customer service with faster food dine in.
Options of several Indian dishes exist with wines and other drinks.
Despite that Food was really good
But the behavior of the server!!!
He didn’t let us set.
Packaging for take away is horrible(plastic)
The smell of the place is horrible also
We have tried chicken masala and kalamari, the bread was fresh and delicious.
The only downside is that the place is quite small, so it can feel a bit crowded, especially during peak hours.
What made the experience even better was the excellent service and warm ambiance. The staff were courteous, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The restaurant itself has a cozy and inviting atmosphere that complements the food beautifully. Le Madras has definitely earned a well-deserved five stars!
